Stake Pools are coming to Solana! A thread 🧵

2/ A network’s censorship resistance is a measure of its ability to withstand disruptions or attacks.

A good way to measure this is by looking at the superminority: the smallest set of validators that can halt the network.

3/ However, one of the hardest problems in censorship resistance is the challenge of getting people to split their stake between many independent validators.
Greater stake distribution increases the superminority, making the network harder to attack.

4/ Solana is already one of the most censorship resistant networks (our superminority group is currently 16), but the Solana Foundation can do even more to increase stake distribution.

5/ Today the Solana Foundation is thrilled to announce Stake Pools – a liquid staking solution which promotes censorship resistance, decentralization, and the growth of DeFi. #SolanaSeason

6/ Staking $SOL in a stake pool helps decentralize the network by systematically spreading the staked SOL across a larger number of validators.

This in turn can help increase the network’s censorship resistance.

7/ Stake Pool deposits ALSO generate a token for delegators, which represents the SOL deposited + rewards earned from staking.

These new tokens can be used in #DeFi apps -- such as @RaydiumProtocol and @ProjectSerum – to provide liquidity, collateral, or be freely traded,
