This is scandalous. While Harris County courts have a huge backlog of cases, Houston's federal reorganization courts—which have been among the busiest courts in the nation over the past two years—have no backlog at all. What's the difference? 1/3
Leadership. The judges of the reorg courts embraced technology and established special procedures to continue court proceedings during the pandemic. In stark contrast, most Harris County judges used the pandemic as an excuse not to work. 2/3
With no leadership from either @LinaHidalgoTX or other Harris County officials requiring the judges to do their jobs, Harris County citizens now face a paralyzed criminal justice system and a seriously backlogged civil justice system. This is govt administration malpractice. 3/3
