Covid pretty much refuted left libertarianism by and large. Hold an idea to the fire and watch it burn I suppose. Hard to be very left of center at all without chucking negative liberties out the window to overton window creep. Super lefty libertarianism doesn't hold up.
Covid mostly refuted anarchism in general. I listened to Yaron Brooks debate Malice on Lex's podcast, and even Randian Minarchism is more functional than anarchy, especially socialist variations.
"Raw unbridled compliance" just isn't easy to defend against other than a viciously negative liberties based liberal court system, of which the US has always had the strongest. Plus crypto is a shitfest of legal complexity requiring negative liberty precedent.
"You can just go somewhere else" & the "Just build your own DNS/TCP/Server infrastructure, your own payment rails" meme is real. Only crypto is crazy enough to do it. Do that, then buy everything and create exterritorial communities. Digital Mormonism. #btc
Getting to the original point; anarchist argue that getting rid of the state will prevent monopoly capital institutional capture. In reality, it's a structural failure of negative liberties in the constitution, the executive branch, lack of defined law, not excess.
I.e, the western legal systems are not robustly defined and designed to prevent monopoly capital from living by different rules. It's abrogation and corruption. Gamification of it. Medium entities are protected, FTC regs, etc. Ostrom's work heavily focuses on this.
However, the US is worse than the EU in this regard. We use the highest function of the law to defend the worst (Exxon) (Cosby) (OJ), while schlups get public defenders or different laws altogether. aka US intl. corporate law is ultra shady.
Right now the progressive platform/left-libs/democrat are america is basically arguing to take plebeian negative liberties away while letting multinationals enforce censorship for the government, basically elevating their general powers and negative liberties as E-corps. Wild.
