Now, we see the creation of a new massive class of useless people. As computers become better and better in more and more fields, there is a distinct possibility that computers will out-perform us in most tasks and will make humans redundant.

And then the big political and economic question of the 21st century will be, “What do we need humans for?”, or at least, “What do we need so many humans for?”

At present, the best guess we have is to keep them happy with drugs and computer games … but this doesn’t sound like a very appealing future.......

[One ]possibility is the division of humankind into different biological castes, with the rich being upgraded into virtual gods, and the poor being degraded to this level of useless people.

The main products of the twenty-first-century economy will not be textiles, vehicles, and weapons but bodies, brains, and minds.
While the industrial revolution created the working class, the next big revolution will create the useless class.

The way humans have treated animals is a good indicator for how upgraded humans will treat us.

Democracy and the free market will both collapse once Google and Facebook know us better than we know ourselves, and authority will shift from individual humans to networked algorithms.

Humans won't fight machines; they will merge with them. We are heading toward marriage rather than war.

This is the shape of the new world, and the gap between those who get on board and those left behind will be larger than the gap between industrial empires and agrarian tribes, larger even than the gap between Sapiens and Neanderthals. This is the next stage of evolution

2016- Klaus Schwab, The Fourth Industrial Revolution, World Economic Forum predicted Smart technology devices will, during the coming decade, be integrated with our bodies for behaviour monitoring, location data, health functions and real-time identification .

2016 WEF Schwab book titled Shaping the Future of The Fourth Industrial Revolution. In it, he describes the technological changes coming with the 4th Industrial Revolution of 5G, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence with data centralized in private corporations

Schwab adds, “What the fourth industrial revolution will lead to is a fusion of our physical, digital and biological identity.”

I don't own anything. I don't own a car. I don't own a house. I don't own any appliances or any clothes.

One by one all these things became free, so it ended up not making sense for us to own much.

In our city we don't pay any rent, because someone else is using our free space whenever we do not need it. My living room is used for business meetings when I am not there.

Shopping? I can't really remember what that is.

When AI and robots took over so much of our work, we suddenly had time to eat well, sleep well and spend time with other people.

Once in awhile I get annoyed about the fact that I have no real privacy. No where I can go and not be registered. I know that, somewhere, everything I do, think and dream of is recorded. I just hope that nobody will use it against me.

Yes, our species has evolved in that jungle and lived and even prospered there for thousands of years, but if we return there now, with the powerful new technologies of the twenty-first century, our species will probably annihilate itself.

What will be left?

Of course, even if we disappear, it will not be the end of the world. Something will survive us. Perhaps the rats will eventually take over and rebuild civilization. Perhaps, then, the rats will learn from our mistakes.

But I very much hope we can rely on the leaders assembled here, and not on the rats
