Wild exchange between Jamie Raskin and Andrew Clyde during rules committee meeting just now. Raskin asked Clyde if he still stood by his statement calling 1/6 "normal tourist visit" and read out Clyde's entire statement.

Clyde: "I stand by that exact statement as I said it.”
This came after Raskin asked Clyde initially if he stood by his initial statements and Clyde said he wanted Raskin to read his whole statement. Raskin came prepared and read the whole quote out loud.
Clyde’s full quote that Raskin read during the rules committee hearing:
But Clyde then repeatedly rejected Raskin’s premise that the people who attacked the Capitol on January 6 were terrorists and not tourists.

“That statement did not say that those people were tourists” Clyde said. “Read the statement.”
When Raskin tried another way by asking Clyde to respond to police officers taking issue with "an internet meme that the people here were just tourists,"
Clyde: "I’m not responsible for an internet meme, okay?” "You want to make this another January 6 hearing, but it’s not."

NEW: In a sign of fallout among House Republicans over being vetoed from the January 6 select committee, three sources tell CNN that all six Republicans House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy designated to serve on a key select committee on the economy are pulling out.
None of McCarthy’s initial appointments to the select committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth will be joining that committee’s first meeting this week, a lawmaker familiar with the committee told CNN.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Deputy Chief of Staff Drew Hammill also confirmed to CNN that McCarthy’s selections to this key economic select committee had pulled out.

NEW: 9 GOP members were w/Trump at the border but still had their votes count bc they proxy voted, allowing a colleague to vote on their behalf. The problem? Proxy voting requires members to sign a letter citing the pandemic as the reason they miss the vote. Then we dug for data:
Even though GOP leadership is against proxy voting, 37% of Rs have bucked their party's stance & used it at least once. Members of the GOP even filed a lawsuit against proxy voting but 40 of the initial plaintiffs have voted via proxy, a total of 734 collective votes among them.
Dems use proxy voting even more—73%. 5 Dems have voted solely by proxy since January: Reps. Al Lawson, Frederica Wilson, Grace Napolitano, Ted Lieu & Alan Lowenthal.
A 6th, Donald Payne, voted by proxy for every vote except one. Most cite health reasons for why they use it.

Sanders blamed the media. (1/5)
“I have been in Congress for 30 years. I was a Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, home city. Reverend, do you know how many times media has asked me what am I gonna do about poverty? I don't think it ever has. I'm followed by all this,” Sanders said pointing to the media. (2/5)
Although Sanders said as a whole are “good people, and separated himself from Trump’s attacks on the media, which he classified as “disgusting, horrible, anti-democratic,” Sanders said the media focuses on the wrong things: (3/5)

THREAD on @AOC door knocking for @BernieSanders in Des Moines, Iowa:
First, @AOC spoke to volunteers ahead of canvassing. “We’re in this living my room today because we know that, because this is more than just a presidential campaign. And this is more than just the caucuses. This is about what is going to happen in our lifetimes.”
Then, @AOC started her route.
