When it comes to Archery, South Korea reigns supreme.
Why?Well, it's a part of their school education.
Since its debut in 1984, South Korea has won gold medal in every Olympic games for Archery.
39 medals with 23 Gold including 9th Women consecutive gold medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
In Rio Olympics, they won every single medal in Archery.
What emerges as the key differentiator is the focus on FIRST PRINCIPLES.
1. There are 141 Archery Clubs in Elementary School, 97 in middle school & 50 in high school. 2. It’s part of schooling, they fire 4055 arrows as a selection for school events, something even champions don’t do in other countries for larger events.
3. Korean Coaches got together in the ’70s and made a decision to think long-term.
Hence they asked for lighter bows so the body structure won’t be distorted in the long run.
The body form was the only criteria while standard coaching techniques were created so that players irrespective of age can grasp. Importance of First principles was reinforced.
4. Importance of outcome and final points was not crucial initially. Even in recreational archery body form was taught compulsorily. Once that was sorted results would come. #sathayeclasses#archery#Olympics#leadership
