The Right hero-worships a sociopathic narcissist...twice impeached for undermining the democracy... who homicidally mismanaged a pandemic that killed 600K+ people to protect his personal interests.....
...but they have a problem with Simone Biles b/c she's a "selfish sociopath".
This brings to mind the rhetoric of the Bush 43 presidency:
"They hate us because of our freedom"
This probably exists an entirely different level as tens of millions of Americans refuse a live saving vaccine that much of the rest of the world doesn't have access to.

The other aspect (thread) is that the Right appeals to more primitive regions in the brain (amygdala/emotion/fear), which causes impulsive/instinctive reactions.....whereas the Left appeal to the cerebral cortex (policy/logic)....which is less motivating.
Trump's short-sightedness caused him to fail to see the potential gain with masks. Even amidst the anti-vax hysteria, the Right....while defying the "physics" of logic...still attempts to credit Trump for the development of vaccines they refuse to take.
