Bharat Biotech has already eliminated dependency on US imports needed for COVAXIN, that has an 81% efficacy, a 99.9% success rate against post-vaccination CoVID, and is equally effective against B.1.617 mutant.

Why are Indian politicians and bureaucrats hailing the US IP/Patent waiver as though it is a godsend for us? All these vaccine technologies are decades old, and our indigenous pipeline is already multi-platform - whole virus; adeno; DNA; RNA; subunit.

1. Unrelenting abuse since yesterday. Because journalist @atti_cus deliberately misconstrued my tweet that countered his outrage at the fake news that India was exporting Medical Oxygen.

But Instead of apologising he now gets politicians to amplify his lie. These guys are vile.

2. Subsequent to my pointing out that India was exporting not Medical but Industrial Oxygen, and that too just 9200 tons or 0.4% of its 2.19 million tons yearly output, one news portal - the genesis of the fake outrage - withdrew its report & apologised. But @atti_cus never did.

3. @atti_cus triggered thousands to abuse me, to hide his own culpability in spreading fake news of Medical Oxygen export.

I know he will never apologise, and neither will @OmarAbdullah and @Shehla_Rashid, but for those who still go by facts, truth, and objectivity know better.

Dear @PMOIndia. 20,100 Indians have died of CoVID since the beginning of the second wave. Please provide data as to how many of them had been vaccinated.

The USA has provided this data: Out of 75 million vaccinated, only 5800 contracted CoVID, and only 75 of them died.

Data just made public by the govt: Of the 11 crore Indians who got vaccinated (first dose) ONLY 21,353, or 0.019%, later became CoVID positive. The figure would be even lower if you exclude frontline workers.

This is stunning. The vaccines work spectacularly.

Dear @PMOIndia. We MUST put second dose on hold, or at least increase the gap from 4 weeks to 12 like the UK has, so we can vaccinate as many as possible.

Lancet Covishield study: 81% efficacy if gap between doses is 12 weeks, 55% if gap < 6 weeks.

India needs immediate economic as well as structural reforms. We need to cut down on the fiscal deficit, move our labour force away from agriculture; invest more in healthcare and education. We need large scale privatisation.

It took a pandemic for us to realise that the Health of a nation overrides every other necessity. 137% increase in the Health budget is phenomenal. Fantastic news, this.

LIC IPO; Disinvestment target of 1.7 lac crore; PSU banks, BPCL, IDBI, GIC to be disinvested in. This is already a dream #Budget2021.

[A gentle reminder, though: Disinvestment, a PSU buying a sick PSU, is not privatisation. Not a single PSU has been privatised since 2003.]

Remembering Sir CV Raman, born this day in 1888. Known for discovering the eponymous Raman Effect, his genius was reflected in diverse fields. He had the child's eye.

Twitter is like a Public Sector Bank. Its losses mount year on year; the organisation is run by pompous individuals; the rules & regulations are confounding & absurd; the complaints are seldom heard; the decisions go mostly against your wishes; but everyone who hates it uses it.

The threat of censorship is worse than censorship; for it is better to be blind than to be looking constantly over your shoulder.

The Indian courts MUST step in and restore the sanctity of freedom of speech. They must step in and restore @Twitter to being just a platform.
