BREAKING: Edison, NJ’s 5th largest municipality (with significant Hindu population) recognizes Hinduphobia & July as Hindu Persecution Awareness Month!
Thank you to the brave Hindu students who worked for this big win!
In a watershed moment, Edison, New Jersey, which is the state's fifth-largest municipality and has a large Hindu-American population, recognized July as Hindu Persecution Awareness Month.
The proclamation issued by the Township's mayor nods to the past and present discrimination that Hindus have faced in South Asia, as well as the richness and significance of Hindu heritage.
Significantly, the proclamation also recognizes Hinduphobia, something that, unfortunately, is a clear and present issue to this day.
The proclamation by Edison Township to recognize Hindu Persecution Awareness Month is incredibly significant, because this meaningful time for Hindus across the globe has now received official governmental recognition.
The issuing of this proclamation is a joyous and incredibly meaningful occasion for our Hindu community.
We are so proud of the Hindu students in the community who made this win happen!

THREAD on how journalists deliberately leave out Hindu student voices when it doesn’t fit their narrative:
1/ Two weeks ago, we received the following email from @arunNYC. After reading the email, we spoke to the students who had taken Audrey Truschke’s class and were involved in the complaint against her. They declined to take the interview, for valid reasons …
2/ For those who do not know, Truschke has a long history of stalking Hindu students’ parents and subtweeting Hindu students, particularly when students speak out. In fact, she is proud of this behavior.
We found an extensive amount of misinformation from @tuftssarc and related parties.
We ask that the groups issue an apology to the Hindu community, re-evaluate the resources they share for prejudice and educate themselves on Hinduism, Hindu persecution and Hinduphobia.
They must be held accountable for their harmful statements.
ALERT: On April 10, @csustudents passed a resolution to add caste as a protected category.
Although as Hindus, it is our dharma to stand against caste discrimination, we must oppose groups that call for the total destruction of Hinduism to combat caste discrimination.
EL has:
> Allied with those who have said Hindus are the "sick people" of India
> Falsely tied Hindus to police brutality in U.S.
> Degraded Holi as "casteist" & linked sexual violence to Hindu festivals
> Encouraged students to compare Indian politics to the Holocaust
