Son vs Bruno (My first FPL thread!) Please give it a read and leave feedback down below. Thanks!

Today I will be adding to the compelling case of going without Bruno.

I will start by talking about the alternatives to Bruno Fernandes. The United assets who look favourable are Luke Shaw (5.5), Jadon Sancho (9.5), Mason Greenwood (7.5), and Edison Cavani. Stats per 90 from @FFH_HQ. Note that the signing of Varane "should" improve their Defence.

Now the case for picking Son over Bruno. It is worth noting that if Kane does in fact leave Tottenham there is even greater appeal for Son as he would most likely play as a number 9 and take penalties. Stats over the last few seasons show that without Kane Son registers a total

of 0.64 xG per 90 compared to 0.4 xG per 90 with Kane in the team. If we assume that Son would play 3000 minutes next season that would leave Son scoring 21 goals next season. But there's more. Son is an excellent finisher and usually scores 3 or 4 more goals than his xg

which leaves his total at 25 goals AND you add in penalties that gives son an extra 4 or 5 goals a season leaving him at 30 goals for the season! If we say that Son's xA halfs due to Kanes depature that would mean that Son scores 30 goals and 5 assists giving him a raw score

of 165 points of the season. We assume Son scores 20 bonus points which takes his total up to 185 Points before adding 60 points for playing leaving leeway for injury or yellow cards. Son is now on 245 leaving one more thing to add - his clean sheet points. We can conservitavley

Estimate that Tottenham will keep 11 clean sheets leaving him on 256 points for the season. A monster haul. We take into account that he rotates captaincy well with salah and we see these fixtures! (graphic from fplrotationplanner.com)

Now onto Bruno Fernandes. His stats at first glance do look better than sons but we need to delve deeper to predict his performance this season.

Bruno averaged under 6 points per 90 in the second half of the season and when we also take into account the possibility of returns being spread more throughout the team, his lack of rest, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer possibly rotating him with lingard, and the possibility of penalties

drying up things do not look that good for the Portuguese midfielder. If we compare Bruno's second half of the season stats to son's full-season stats we can see that son leads Bruno in points, goals, assists, xPTS, xG, and big chances.

If you were to captain both Bruno and Salah things look even worse with you having to choose between captaining Bruno against a more solid Everton side or Salah against the premier league champions.

In preseason Son has impressed registering 2 goals and 3 assists getting back to previous fitness as Bruno has not yet made an appearance in a fixture. Son did not play significant international football compared to Bruno playing consistently for the last sixteen months!

The surgery of Marcus Rashford means that Mason Greenwood is likely to start and if we compare Bruno and Mason for the last 10 fixtures of the season Bruno's stats considerably drop again with him averaging under 5 points compared to an amazing 8.58 points for Mason Greenwood

Which would nearly outscore a Bruno Captaincy.

I will leave you with this. In South Korean culture towards the end of the work year or "season" is it usual for a "worker" to conserve energy for the next season so they can hit the next year hard which is something we see with Son.

Another factor I failed to mention is that man united could switch to a 4-3-3 formation with Bruno sitting deeper which naturally, reduces his goal potential.
