This issue is extremely simple to understand. Palestinians displaced by the first war in 1948, went to live in this neighborhood. Now israel wants to displace them again to make way for Jewish settlers to take their homes. This is not a bug it's a feature of Zionism.
Muna El Kurd, whose family is among those threatened with eviction, posts pictures from the court
The Palestinians who face losing their homes are currently in the court and cannot understand a word being said by judge & lawyers b/c everything is in Hebrew. This is the reality of living under colonizers, deciding your fate in front of you while you're powerless. #SheikhJarrah
The supreme court has offered Palestinians in #SheikhJarrah a compromise of "protected residents" status allowing them to live there without fear of eviction for now, but would have to pay a small rent to Jewish settler organization Nahalat Shimon who would then own the homes.
Court still in recess as the Palestinian families are talking with their lawyers.
Court is back. Judge Amit rejects lawyer request on behalf of the Palestinian families to adjourn for 7 days in order to consider the compromise.
The judges are clearly putting pressure on the parties to wrap this up as fast as possible. Even during recess no one was allowed out to avoid talking to media.
BREAKING: #SheikhJarrah families have refused the israeli settlement offer, which would see them transfer ownership of the homes to Jewish settlers and pay rent in exchange for "protected status" as tenants.
That should tell you everything about who the real home owners are.
The israeli offer to families in #SheikhJarrah is surreal: we won't evict you now but pay us rent until you die, then we take your homes.
Israel doesn't even have jurisdiction in East Jerusalem under intl law. They want to take the homes to legitimize their settler colony.
Then in the future they can claim: "See? We didn't take this land by force, the Palestinians signed and gave it up"-- yeah, after threatening them with eviction. It's very nasty business.
There is still no final decision yet.
Mohammed El-Kurd @m7mdkurd, Muna's brother, whose family faces having their home stolen, recounts how the judges are pressuring them:
Families' lawyers disputed by the settler group (Nahalat Shimon) re alleged ownership dating back to 19th century. The families lawyers cited the lack of documents in the land registry among various other discrepancies.
Court adjourned. The judges still wish to achieve some sort of compromise, and deliberate that within 7 days the families in #SheikhJarrah submit a list of names of people to be covered by the "protected resident" status. For now it seems no final conclusion or forced expulsions.
In Syria we have water and electricity cuts because we could barely provide for ourselves and our neighbors, meanwhile these colonizers boast about the resources stolen from us and have money to make propaganda out of it too.
Syria is known for being self sufficient and a strong producer of basic goods, food and medicine, even despite occupation and sanctions. If left alone it would thrive even more but sadly that’s not the case.
Breaking: US given permission to appeal UK’s decision not to extradite Julian #Assange
in January, Judge Baraitser had decided not to extradite Assange to the US based on health grounds, as this would increase the risk of suicide. At the same time, she agreed with all the political charges in the indictment, which is v bad for journalism.
.@PressTV’s website has been seized by the US government. Look at these gangsters. This is America’s so called “freedom of speech” and “democracy”. The United States is a criminal org. They’re scared of anti-imperialist and pro-Palestinian outlets so they shut them down. Cowards.
Apparently my show and those of my colleagues are an “unusual and extraordinary threat”. Lol. The United States’ attempts to silence the resistance axis are so preposterous.
Israel is bombing Syria's capital Damascus right now, violating Lebanese airspace to do it; Syrian air defence systems are responding. This is such a common occurrence (virtually every week) the media can't be bothered to mention it half the time.
The israelis and their media lapdogs think that if they keep screaming it's "Hezbollah and Iranian targets!" then that suddenly makes it okay for them to bomb anyone they like. This is just propaganda by oppressors and colonizers. Their goal is to keep Syria unstable.
By their own admissions, the israelis have bombed Syria hundreds of times in the last years since the war began in 2011. Syria supports Palestine and the Axis of Resistance. They are illegally occupying the Golan Heights and punishing Syria by keeping it in chaos from the South.
Breaking: Israeli media report sirens have gone off near Dimona, where an israeli nuclear facility lies. Jerusalem residents reported hearing a loud explosion- likely from patriot missile systems responding to a rocket attack but this is unconfirmed. Story is still developing

WATCH: Iran Responds to Israeli Attack on Natanz Nuclear Facility
The centrifuges damaged by israel were the older, first generation IR-1s. They've been replaced by the newer IR-6 generation. Iran also announced it will add another 1000 centrifuges to the Natanz facility and successfully enriched uranium to 60%.
Israel is a reckless, unhinged terrorist entity that thinks blowing up nuclear facilities and killing scientists is acceptable. Imagine if Iran did that to them. We'd never hear the end of it.
