Parada Shivling or Rasalingam is a Lingam, made of solidified mercury.

According to Siddha alchemy, mercury is the representation of male (Shiva) form, and the chemical element sulfur used in the solidification process is considered as the representation of female (Shakti).
But NABAKALEBARA is the special celebration of Ratha Yatra when there is replacement of the Vigraha in Puri Jagannath takes place in every 12years but sometime in 8 or 19 such years as have two month of Asada. In this process the old
Vigrahas are replaced by New. However the Bramha Padartha
(soul-subtance) remains the same.Only wood from Neem tree are used to carve the Pratima.The tree(Daru) has to fulfill many conditions.A special search team lead by Daitapati Sebayata are send in search of the Daru.

Maa Mangala of Kakatpur.After finding the Daru is transported to Puri & the new Vigrahas r craved from these.
Then the Bramha,the life force is transferred from the old Vigrahas to the newone followed by very secret rituals
