From L. Keith Scott MD, MSc, FCCM, a critical care Doctor in Shreveport, Louisiana.
“Faith over fear and the CoVID vaccine.
Faith: I’ve lost faith, not in God, but in my fellow human beings, my neighbors, friends and at times family to do what’s right…”
“…I had faith we would help each other, protect each other and assure each other that we could prevail. We came together for WWII and 9/11 yet I’ve lost faith that many fail to realize that CoVID is as dire and dangerous as those events…”
“…I lost faith that people are willing to take risk if it results in helping their fellow American. I’ve lost faith in our collective hearts when we fail to understand that 4.6 million people have died from this virus and that someone had to infect them…”
“…It seems, sadly, that many express so little if any compassion or empathy.
I’ve also lost faith in those of spiritual leadership that fail to realize God can inspire scientists as much as themselves…”
“…At one point, I had faith people would get the vaccine not only to protect themselves but do it to protect those around them, either family or someone at the grocery store because that was the right thing to do…”
“…I had faith that was America. I’ve lost that faith. Throughout our history our greatest triumphs have been because we came together for the good of all…”
“…Fear: I fear, however, none of this is any longer true. I fear selfishness has replaced “treat thy neighbor…..”. I fear misinformation rules over science, I fear people don’t care if they spread the virus and perhaps kill me…”
“…I fear this is the new norm and our children will follow the path our country has now chosen. I fear we can no longer count on each other in time of crisis. I fear many fail to realize that their right to not vaccinate also means they have the right to infect me…”
“…I fear civic responsibility now means “me-responsibility” above all else. My greatest fear, however, is that this is now the new norm…”
“…Do I have faith we will prevail in the end? Yes, only because enough of us that care for our fellow man will step up and be “men” and do what’s right…”
“…I still fear, however, that too many will fail to realize how selfish they’ve been or fail to realize they are the problem and why this crisis has recurred and persisted…”
“…I further fear how this time in our history, with all our divisiveness will affect our next crisis and what legacy are we leaving to the next generation of Americans.

Dr. Scott had to medically retire. His wife says one year after he was diagnosed with COVID he tried to go back to work non clinically as head of research at LSU. He lasted 6 weeks & relapsed with post COVID Guillain-Barre like syndrome.
So now he is unable to work. Still doing PT twice weekly. Getting stronger but the fatigue is still overwhelming, his wife says.

Read this thread from a frontline doctor in Mississippi: “Sure you heard our governor say latest recommendation from CDC for vaccinated to wear masks indoors was “foolish.” 🤦🏽♂️
A school started early in Lamar County last week. No mask requirement…” 1/4
“…They’ve had an outbreak and now they’re virtual for 2 weeks. Lots of school have gone from mask optional to mask required.
Sure you know Delta variant has been found to be more contagious than other strains…” 2/4
“…However our education rankings probably explain why the public just aren’t getting it.
The Misinformation, the myths, is a story in itself…” 3/4
A sobering, cautionary thread:
Last December, Tennessee conservative talk radio host Phil Valentine wrote a blog entry called “It’s Just Common Sense “Then, he wrote: “I’m not an anti-vaxxer. I’m just using common sense. What are my odds of getting COVID? They’re pretty low…”
“…What are my odds of dying from COVID if I do get it? Probably way less than one percent.”
On July 11, Phil Valentine announced he was infected with COVID. “Yes, the rumors are true. I have COVID. Unfortunately for the haters out there, it looks like I'm going to make it.”
This week he was placed on a ventilator “out of an abundance of caution.”
Now, his family says he need a heart & lung bypass machine.
It doesn’t get more grave.
His family said: “We’re trying to get him to a hospital with that equipment via helicopter.”newschannel5.com/news/conservat…
THREAD: Story out of Louisiana:
I got a call from a woman who went to get her hair cut today. Her hairstylist is an anti-VAXer (but believes in and has long taken non FDA approved supplements). This woman, who’s fully vaccinated, showed up wearing a mask.
The stylist told her she didn’t need it. The client said that she preferred to wear it. As the cut started, the stylist said, according to the client, that if she got sick with Covid and died “it was just her time to go”.
The stylist also revealed that her sister, who is also unvaccinated, is hospitalized with Covid and is “very sick.” The stylist went on to say that her sister, despite her illness, still doesn’t want the vaccine.
BIG-NEWS:”…vaccinated individuals infected with delta may be able to transmit the virus as easily as those who unvaccinated. Vaccinated people infected with delta have measurable viral loads similar to those who are unvaccinated & infected with” delta washingtonpost.com/health/2021/07…
Also…”The delta variant of the coronavirus appears to cause more severe illness than earlier variants and spreads as easily as chickenpox, according to an internal federal health document that argues officials must “acknowledge the war has changed…”washingtonpost.com/health/2021/07…
NOW: San Juan Puerto Rico’s Mayor says he’s been told of previous alleged incidents where San Juan cops showed up at LGBTQ businesses to enforce permits but showed up armed like soldiers going to war, & in large numbers. The mayor has vowed to investigate.
The video in the tweet above shows an intervention this week where San Juan police reportedly intervened at an LGBTQ business to enforce a permit because they allegedly weren’t supposed to be selling liquor. But that’s what they showed up looking like. To that the mayor said:
But after getting new information; the mayor released this statement tonight.
San Juan Puerto Rico cops went into a gay bar last night dressed like soldiers in a war zone. The mayors spokeswoman says the mayor thinks the show of force was a bit much. Critics call it an intimidation tactic. The mayor says cops were enforcing a permit.
The mayor’s spokeswoman released this statement:
The spokeswoman says the mayor spoke with the police superintendent about the show of force and she indicated that the mayor thought the show of force was somewhat excessive. The spokeswoman claims that the establishment was operating without a liquor license.
