The five-pointed star with the white ray of the star pointing downwards towards the manger. In the Chapter room, the downward-pointing white ray points to the West.
The character-building lessons taught in the Order are stories inspired by Biblical figures.
(1) Adah- the daughter
Ruth – the widow
Esther – the wife
Martha – the sister
Electa – the mother
(2) [Adah]represents the virtue of obedience to duty.
[Ruth]represents the virtue of religious principles.
[Esther]represents the virtue of loyalty.
[Martha]represents the virtue of endurance in trial.
[Electa](The "elect lady"), represents the virtue of endurance of persecution
(3) The truth is, Electa does not come from the Bible in the way that the four other heroines of OES do.
The name Electa was chosen, because 2 JOHN 1:1 KJV was addressed to “the elder to the elect lady and her children..” Some translators have attached the name Kyria to her.
