MIRACLE MONEY: NIGERIA POLICE SHOULD NOT ALLOW ITSELF TO BE USED BY APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN TO HARASS ISRAEL BALOGUN
Our client, Mr. Israel Goodnews Balogun, has received an invitation from the Special Enquiry Bureau, Force Criminal Intelligence
and Investigation Department, Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja signed by ACP Y. Y. Abubakar, to report for interview on 13th August, 2021 over an alleged case of "Criminal Defamation and Cyberstalking."
The invitation follows a threat issued to our client by lawyers to Apostle Johnson Suleman, the Founder of Omega Fire Ministries, over the views expressed by our client in which he disavowed the baseless, false, unsubstantiated and ridiculous miracle money claims
repeatedly made by Apostle Suleman during his ministrations in Atlanta, United States of America and in Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria.
Apostle Suleman during the said ministrations claimed that he commanded Angels to send money mysteriously to worshippers. In a comical display, some worshippers came out with their phones to meet him in the pulpit to 'testify' that they had received credit alerts from the unseen"
Angels" as commanded by Suleman. As a true believer of the undiluted gospel of Jesus Christ, our client found the miracle money claims to be contrary to Biblical doctrines and the tenets of Christianity and came out to disavow the claims of Apostle Suleman by debunking same.
Enraged by the views of our client, Suleman briefed his lawyers to write to our client to demand that our client should apologize within seven (7) days. Although the letter from his solicitors is dated 27th July, 2021, it was sent to our client via WhatsApp on 3rd August, 2021.
We have responded to the demand letter from Suleman. If he decides to go ahead to institute a civil action against our client for "defamation of character", we will be happy to meet him and his miracle money Angels in court.
However, it is important to alert the public, civil society, media and the international community that barely 24 hours after the solicitors to Mr. Suleman had written to our client, an invitation letter was received by our client from the Nigeria Police Force.
We have advised our client as law abiding citizens to honour the police invitation; while hoping that the police will act professionally and respect the constitutional rights of our client.
We call on the Inspector General of Police to save the country from the ensuing embarrassment and the damage the actions of the police in this case may do to the image of the country before the international community.
Nigeria is currently facing severe financial and economic challenges, Apostle Suleman should help the country out of her predicament by commanding his "Angels" to assist the country with his so-called miracle money.
The Angels should credit the Federation Account with enough funds to help the country meet its urgent financial obligations.
We hope responsible and God fearing Christian leaders in Nigeria will have the courage to speak out against the desecration of their faith.
The eyes of the nation and the world are on the Nigeria Police Force.
Inibehe Effiong
Counsel to Israel Balogun
The correct date of the interview in paragraph 1 is 11th August, please. Not 13th. Thanks.

It is becoming embarrassing and at the same time increasingly difficult for young people to write and express themselves properly when chatting or communicating with someone on social media.
Proper communication should not be so difficult, especially when you are chatting with someone you are not very familiar with.
How do you begin a conversation with someone with irritating usages like “sup”, “hw ws ur nyt”, “GM”, “aait” and the likes? It is offensive.
It is a way of signaling that you're not prepared for important conversation.
If you send messages to me using those fragmented, esoteric, casual, mundane and irritating usages, I will likely ignore or treat your messages with levity.
Immediate past Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uwemedimo Nwoko SAN has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). My position is that he should clear his name in court.
Officials of the Akwa Ibom State Government believe that they are above the law. The whole world recently read scandalous reports from the Accountant General of the State on how the current governor is wasting public funds with impunity.
As Attorney General, Nwoko SAN ensured that frivolous charges were filed against those who opposed the government of Akwa Ibom State. He basically turned the State Ministry of Justice into a partisan machinery of the ruling party in the State.
Pro-government minions are in the habit of invoking the name of the Great Gani Fawehinmi in their desperation to scandalize other activists. The same Gani was despised by successive regimes. If Gani were still alive, these sycophants will abuse him. Gani was accused falsely too.
Dr. Olu Onagoruwa betrayed Gani, his friend, and accepted to serve as Attorney General to Gen. Abacha. When he opted out, Abacha junta murdered his son who was working with the NIA. Dr Onagoruwa falsely accused Gani of collecting money from Gen. Buhari to buy a house in London.
Chief Gani Fawehinmi refuted the allegation. On several times, Gani was arrested on trumped up charges, including affray, treasonable felony and so on. In the eyes of the corrupt regimes, he was a criminal. Gani was hated. Attempts were made to kill him. He was despised.
I like the Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaidó. I am also opposed to communism.
But it is clear that the sanctions that the Trump administration imposed on Venezuela and the Maduro regime has impacted Venezuelans negatively. It has crumbled their economy.
Saab is being targeted by the US because he was doing a lot to undermine the sanctions. I don't have the facts of the money laundering allegations made by the US. It may well be true. What is certain is that he made it possible for Venezuela to avoid sanctions in a limited way.
Someone drew my attention not long ago to the List. This is a List that was developed as a proposal before those listed in it were approached. I became interested in the Alex Saab's case due to the following reasons:
1. I have a close relationship with Saab's lawyer in Nigeria.
2. The case is of interest to me because of the legal and diplomatic issues at stake, particularly the ECOWAS Court involvement.
3. Someone that I know and worked with in the past spoke to me about it and requested that I offer legal hindsight on it and also tag some accounts.
4. I respect my relationship with people except where there is a clear indication of impropriety.
Ordinarily, there's no way that I will go on social media to speak against the interest of someone that is being represented by a lawyer that I have a close relationship with.
Another lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, described the appointment as an immoral attempt to convey diplomatic immunity on them so that they can evade the prosecutorial jurisdiction of the ICC.
“President Buhari has by this ignoble appointments reminded Nigerians that he is deaf to their cries and blind to their suffering. No leader in this country in my lifetime has exceeded Buhari’s parochialism and provocative indifference to public opinion.
“These former service chiefs were supposed to be fired long ago, but because we have a president who has an unbreakable covenant with failure, they were retained in defiance of the resolutions of the National Assembly and the opinion of most Nigerians.
