Right answer: late waning phase Moon indicates a Moonrise late at night.
What’s not the least surprising to me is the 37% who answered “Full Moon/near Full Moon”
I am afraid these may be fans of 5561BCE.
Please look out at the sky next time and check the waning phase Moonrise!
Folks who doubt this answer can check Moonrise calculation.
The Moon rises later by 48 mins every day from Amavasya to Purnima when counted from Sunrise.
Thus waxing phase Moon rises in the day, Purnima Moon rises in the evening, late waning phase Moon rises late at night!
As an example:
14th day of Shukla Paksha (Shukla Chaturdashi):
Moonrise occurs 14 x 48 = 672 mins from Sunrise! ie. 11 hrs 12 mins later.
Therefore if Sunrise is at 6 am, Moonrise will be at 5:12 pm
QED.
Shukla Paksha: Moonrise in the day only and so Purnima Moonrise at 6pm!
After 6pm (assuming a sunrise of 6am) waning phase Moonrise starts.
Moon will always rise in the East!
Later the waning phase, later the Moonrise!
This means that a very late Moonrise occurring when 3-4/15 parts of the night remain acc to Drona Parva: 161:1-2 = Krishna Ekadashi
This means that 14th war night must be Krishna Ekadashi or thereabouts!
This means that the 18th war day must be an Amavasya!
This also means that the 1st war day must be a Shukla Trayodashi (S13) or close to it. That 1st war day can never be an Amavasya.

Brilliant decision. May I request the esteemed Prime Minister @narendramodi ji to rename a stadium in Maharashtra by the name of another player of that 1936 Hockey team from India- Babu Narsoo Nimal (a man of impeccable character and courage from Pune- Aundh Road)
Babu Nimal was around and inspired me in prior to my medical school years to do well.
The photos of that 1936 Olympic team still stands in his flat at Aundh Road where I spent a decade of my youth.
You may read about him and another Pune based player here:
Both were from Khadki and people had gathered there to see off the two. Phillips died earlier and Babu Nimal was around till 1998. A very very fit man even then.
Bhisma did not misjudge Uttarayana!
What is the proof?
Ans: Verse 6 and 26 of CE Mahabharata are clear!
Yudhishtira MUST observe Winter Solstice with his eye and then proceed to Bhisma same day which is Shukla Astami Rohini Nakshatra.
It can only occur on 4th day post WS!
👇🏻
The meaning of Solstice= Sol Sistere = The Sun (appears to) stands Still for 3 days at Solstice.
Observation of Verse 6 of ch153 Anushasan Parva cannot occur on day of WS, BUT only on 4th day post! This is a scientific fact! Chapter 11 of my free book

Assuming that a comet hit the Moon cannot fix a date for the Mahabharata because it’s simply a theory/hypothesis. EVEN IF it were true for 3137/3138/3139BCE THEN it would also be true for 3067BCE!!!
Plus it cannot be verified as such for any year!
1. That the Mahabharata per se is “inauspicious” is strictly speaking not true.
One of the greatest scholars of Mahabharata astronomy, my mentor late Dr Achar who read it daily, lived to a ripe old age and passed away in his sleep most peacefully that too in Covid19 times.
2. However, it is considered useful to recite Vishnu Sahasranaam prior to and after studying the Mahabharata in Sanskrit, especially when reading of the scenes of deceit and esp of war.
Why?
Ans: Because Shabda in Sanskrit has Rupa (form). Recited enough… Shabda BECOMES Rupa.
3. However if someone “dies and was translating the Mahabharata”, then I am afraid that I cannot take this as proof/ Pramana of the text’s supposed “inauspicious nature”. I know this “inauspicious nature” to be an untruth.
Why?
Ans: Birth and Death are not in your hands…
People often ask me “Should we believe in Tantrikas or do xyz Tantra to alleviate problems”?
👇🏻
My opinion: Work hard in a directed manner to achieve your goal FIRST every day. Reliance on Tantra is AFTER everything else has been done AND to protect/ fortify the mind.
Thread
I CANNOT repeat this enough. Don’t run after Tantrikas mindlessly.
Be rational to the nth degree. I see virtually every week somebody or the other who has spent a great deal of time in “Tantra”.
Don’t do it. (And I say this as someone who believes in the supernatural)
I have spent close enough 30 years in both science and in this other field now… make certain sadhanas as part of your routine and keep Niyama… a sadhana when it matures (over years) produces terrific results.
BUT you must do the sadhana yourself for a long time.
No shortcuts.
Traditional meaning of निष्प्रतिद्वन्द्वं given by Rastriya Samiti is IMHO not applicable here:
It gives : निष्प्रतिद्वन्द्वम् which could not be challenged
Thread:
Actually in this context, the better meaning of निष्प्रतिद्वन्द्वम् will be that which has not got any vacillation or fluctuation. A mind which does not fluctuate between”I want to do” and “I don’t want to do”
This in this context the more appropriate meaning would be “a mind which is very firmly set/ honed (towards carrying out a task”
Remember that the verse one which appears in Sundarkand is having first word as “ततो”…
Why?
There are many Tantrika rituals where exact mala, exact numbers of japa, exact homa material and of course appropriate Bali are specified.
Without the “exact” “all of the above”… result given in the Tantrika scripture is not got.
But the flip side is …. (short thread)
It’s almost impossible to say whether a particular result was due to the ritual or due to destiny or whatever…
Especially as “Shraddha” weakens in today’s age … very difficult for many people to justify anything on basis of Tantrika scripture…
Actually no person can claim that xyz happened due to a particular ritual… or not.
It’s Shraddha and whatever the sampradaya thinks/thought. Validation is impossible for this and also difficult for any human also who claims “a claim” either… those days are gone.
