I just had a very sobering phone call with Dr. Mark Kline, infectious disease expert, & physician in chief at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. He told me:
•18 kids are hospitalized with COVID
•9 are under the age of 2
•6 r n ICU
•3 are on ventilators, including a 1 month old
•5 of the 18 are 12 & older. They are eligible for vaccination. None of them are vaccinated.
•There is rampant community spread that is heavily impacting children in ways that COVID19 didn’t before, based on the test positivity they’re seeing in clinic, according to Dr. Kline.
•Dr. Kline said that the test positivity rate, detected in within the hospital/clinic system, has gone from 1% to 7% to 20% in just the last month.
•In the E.R., 1000 kids were seen in the last 7 days; 132 were Covid +
“We’ve never seen anything like this,” said Dr. Kline

Louisiana’s attorney general sent a letter to staff - saying he can’t give legal advice - but giving them a “religious exemption form” for their kids, stating:

BREAKING: The U.S. Justice Dept’s Civil Rights Division has charged 3 men in Puerto Rico with a conspiracy to commit a hate crime against ‘Alexa’, a transgender woman who was murdered on the island in 2020. Details of what the suspects allegedly did is below in this thread:
Prosecutors alleged that the defendants selected Alexa as the target of their assault because of her “actual and perceived gender identity”. The suspects allegedly used a cell phone to record the harassment and assault of Alexa.
The suspects allegedly used a car to travel to multiple locations to get a paintball gun and paintballs to shoot and cause injury to Alexa.

A sobering, cautionary thread:
Last December, Tennessee conservative talk radio host Phil Valentine wrote a blog entry called “It’s Just Common Sense “Then, he wrote: “I’m not an anti-vaxxer. I’m just using common sense. What are my odds of getting COVID? They’re pretty low…”
“…What are my odds of dying from COVID if I do get it? Probably way less than one percent.”

On July 11, Phil Valentine announced he was infected with COVID. “Yes, the rumors are true. I have COVID. Unfortunately for the haters out there, it looks like I'm going to make it.”
This week he was placed on a ventilator “out of an abundance of caution.”
Now, his family says he need a heart & lung bypass machine.
It doesn’t get more grave.
