The constant assertions that "nobody promised the vaccines would keep you from getting infected" are so bizarre. Yes, those promises absolutely were made, and heavily implied, by the political class. They should have been more realistic about the protection offered.

The political class was determined to stampede everyone into vaccination as quickly as possible, instead of reasoning with them. We were told - indeed *threatened* - throughout 2021 that vaccination was the only way to return to normal life because it would stop the spread.

Would everyone care to rummage through their memory banks and remember a political slogan from just a few weeks ago: "Pandemic of the unvaccinated?" It died quickly when panic mode was re-engaged, but the whole point was that supposedly only the unvaccinated were spreading Covid.

The return of Mask Mania and Lockdown Fever was so jarring, disorienting, and frightening to the American public precisely because they WERE told the "casedemic" would be over if they took the vaccines. Those who got the shots were SHOCKED when ordered to wear masks again.

The attitude today might be different if the public had been approached rationally from the beginning and told, "The shots won't totally prevent you from getting Covid, but they make the consequences far less severe. It kinda does become Just the Flu if you get the shots."

But that argument was NOT made until now, because the push for vaccination was so fervent, and nobody wanted to level with the public that Mask Mania could still be on the table even if we get to 100% vaccination, thanks to the political focus on cases rather than consequences.

Let's be done with the history revisionism that "nobody promised you these shots will keep you from getting Covid." The political class - the ones with the huge megaphones - absolutely did promise that, because they knew vaccination rates would be lower if they didn't. /end
