A few nights ago the James McGill statue was vandalized at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

It was not publicly announced that the statue would be removed today. In the past, the University administration had said they would not remove it.
The McGill University security is telling the media that if they do not leave McGill property, they will call the police on them.

Why does McGill University not want people to know that they removed its founder’s statue?

On Canada Day (July 1) a statue of Queen Victoria was toppled on the Manitoba Legislature grounds.

A statue of Queen Elizabeth II, located on the east side of the legislative grounds, was also toppled.
