I understand there is a lot of confusion regarding the California recall. I have been in contact with the California Secretary of State and these are the answers I received…Thread.
1/
The recall will ask two questions 1. Do you want to recall the governor? And 2. If the governor is recalled who do you want to replace him? There are 46 alternatives. If the recall goes through, whomever gets the most votes wins.
2/
If 50% or more vote NO on the first question, the governor remains in office. If more than 50% vote yes, the governor would be recalled and the person to replace him would be the person with the most votes.
3/
Governor Newsom will NOT be listed as a potential replacement candidate, as the person being recalled cannot run to replace themselves.
4/
If the recall goes through and we end up with a new governor, the winning candidate would only complete governor Newsom‘s term and would have to run again in the 2022 general election.
5/
Each question on the ballot is counted INDEPENDENTLY. A vote on one does not impact your vote on the other. A person can vote NO for the recall and still cast a vote for a replacement candidate without negating their NO vote.
6/
If you are from California, but living away from the state, you can register to vote from your home address or your California address. However, ballots cannot be forwarded like the rest of your mail. In that case, it would be better if you updated your mailing address.
7/
The rules for voting in the recall are a little different for overseas voters. If that is you go to: sos.ca.gov/elections/vote…
8/
I am not paid or endorsed by anyone. I researched all this because I care about California and want people to understand. I am adamant we #VoteNoOnTheRecall because I don’t believe this is the way to choose a leader.
9/
The General Election is next year. Legitimate candidates should run real campaigns side by side and win 50+% of the vote. The 5th largest economy in the world should never have a leader who won less than 20% of the vote.
10/
The country is in chaos. Changing California leadership right now and replacing Governor Newsom with some partisan hack, or an unprepared newbie, would be a disaster for the state. No matter what your political persuasion, none of the 46 alternatives is ready to lead.
11/
There’s a reason neither party has endorsed an alternative candidate in the recall. It’s too big a job to give to just anyone. We need stable, solid leadership right now. We have enough crises going on. #VoteNoOnRecall

The Republicans can no longer win on ideas so they plan to retain power through partisan gerrymandering, voter suppression & fear leaving us with an oligarchy of white, patriarchal, minority rule forever.
We can not allow it.
