GP Vax Rollout 1/8
To help vax rollout, we need help from a bigger group of ppl. Final year nursing, pharmacy, paramedic etc students should be allowed to help with drawing up of doses in the GP setting under supervision from a regstd health prof. @brookmanknight@healthgovau
GP Vax Rollout 2/8 @NSWHealth has recognised this and is advertising for and employing this vital group.

They can draw up, help prepare, and even administer vaccinations under supervision. In GP there isn't even guidance/allowance for non nursing or non doctors to assist. We've had pharmacists ask if they can help, but they can only do it in a pharmacy.

See what they can do? I assume there's good indemnity involved. They can draw up, prepare work area, and administer. Informed consent is still given by a registered health professional.

My clinic can do more. Way more. Systems are excellent, safe, fast, reliable. We've been giving vaccines forever! With 440 AZ doses on hand we delivered 483. With 300 Pfizer we delivered 322. Week in and out we exceed expectations.

Give us permission to use the same redource pool of capable, safe, knowledgeable and enthusiastic people the states and territories can use, and when the increased doses come we'll get there so much faster.
GP Vax Rollout 7/8
With the right staffing, we can do 2400+ doses a week. Big clinics could do way more. Imagine if all GP clinics were allowed to do what we do best without having one hand tied behind our backs.

And if we really want everyone immunised, then get rid of the bottleneck for those without medicare cards. Make it easy to get a health identifier and put rebates on par. Then everyone can get the vaccine everywhere. It'll actually be cheaper this way. #tfctmtt
