in 21 century on territories, occupied by russian-backed military, there is a camp, where Ukrainians are being tortured and held as captives.

once it was an art space — "Izolyatsia". now this name belongs to the establishment of horror.

what is happening in Ukraine, a thread
"Izolyatsia" ("Isolation") was once a well-known art space which was established in the building of a former factory in Donetsk that was producing insulating materials.

when Ukraine was attacked by russia, Donetsk became one of two cities that are under occupation right now.
the "Isolation" art space was turned into an illegal prison. in this prison, innocent people, whose homes were taken by the russian-Ukrainian war, are being held as captives.

there are different ways in which people are being dragged in there
some of them were visiting their old parents on the occupied territories; another just had no opportunity to leave occupied territories before the horror of torture chamber of "Izolyatsia" has started.

this women's name is Oksana Pashyna.
Oksana had to go to her sister in Donetsk to settle some family property issues. she was detained at the border with the "DNR" and taken for 30 days "administrative arrest".

it happened in May, 2020. she was not released ever since. at the time of detention Oksana was pregnant
Natalia Stetsenko, 43 years old

Natalia was a doctor doctor from Makiyivka. in June 2019 she was arrested for "spying".

according to Natalia's father, she has a chronic disease of the spine, which causes severe pain. before the arrest Natalia was just preparing for a surgery
Natalia's father said that in recent months his daughter had regular cramps and was not able to move her right foot. due to the regular use of medicine that helped to relieve the symptoms of spinal disease, Natalia has developed serious stomach problems.
according to her lawyer, at the court hearing on June 25, Natalia had difficulty moving. Natalia told the lawyer that she might not live to attend the next hearing, which is scheduled for August 30.
Olha Mozolivska, 35 years old

Olha's husband Vitaliy said that she used to work on a shift basis in one of the Donetsk restaurants as an administrator. their house was in Avdiivka, in the controlled area.
once after another departure in 2017, the woman simply disappeared and stopped answering calls.
her husband wrote statements to both Ukrainian and "DNR" police, but after the statements he and his four-year-old son had not heard anything about Olha for a few years.
Ukrainian human rights activists say that Olha spent four years in Donetsk "Isolation" camp in an incommunicado mode. her whereabouts became known because of other prisoners who were released as part of exchanges in 2019 and 2020.
TW: direct mentions of violence

so, what do they do to the captives in "Isolation"?

people are being tortured. russian militarists connect electrical wires to the scrotums of male captives, rape, force captives to carry their own urine in cans with plastic bags on their heads
on 10 December 2020, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Gunduz Mammadov stated that there are currently about 160 places such as Isolation: «3.5 thousand people have passed through Izolyatsia, 1.6 thousand of them are civilians».
in Google maps there are three points on the map at the "Isolation" address (Svitlyi Shliakh street, 3), one of which is marked as an institution of the type "Bed & Breakfast" and called "at Marina's". this establishment is likely to be connected with human trafficking
the upper comment on Google maps here says: "One can find a bed here, and not an empty one. For the lonely tourist a warmer can be found".
but let's get back to the "Isolation" camp.

here is the interview where russian militaries are talking about "Isolation". this video has English subtitles. however, I will still quote some points here
Lieonid Baranoff, the leader of the group, says: "They were trying to create a mess in our youth's heads, but our youth has to grow up, marry and give birth to children"; "there is nothing sublime Slavic, Russian in this art (about "Isolation" former art space)
with the "Mongol" ("DNR" military):

- Do you like Isolation?
- Well, yes, there used to be some kind of art center, art for the advanced European "Maidanists" (i.e. Ukrainians), but we will send this art back to the Maidan (Kyiv, Ukrainian capital), let them watch it there >
and when we get there (to Kyiv), we will send it from there to Lviv, and further"

below I will quote Stanislav Asiiev's (former captive of the camp) book "Light Way. The history of one concentration camp". this quotes include direct mentions of violence against woman in camp
сhapter 11, Sex in Isolation

"Wash yourself" - usually this very word meant that someone from the neighboring, female cells will be taken to the second floor today. And the second floor meant rape for women. It was there that the "Isolation" master's room was located >
and it was there that the women were taken, whom he ordered to thoroughly wash themselves before going upstairs".

about the "master" of the Isolation in question. he is called Palych, real name - Dienis Kulikovskii.
he is not currently the head of the torture chamber in Isolation, they say he fled to Russia in 2019, but there is a version that he is being hidden on purpose. article with information about him (article is in Ukrainian): tsn.ua/ukrayina/ye-ro…
further quotes:

"But what was happening in Isolation" terrified even people with twenty years of camp experience. The owner of the concentration camp was simply obsessed with sex - of course, with all its inherent perversions, which resulted in broken lives of dozens of people"
"This madness was expressed both in his speech, most of which was made up of sexually implied swearing, and in his behavior."

"However, men have been sexually perverted by the administration many times less often than women. Among the female sex, there were no "lowered" ones:
Palych simply chose a new victim for himself for the night, ordering his subordinates to "prepare" her before going to sleep. It was often difficult to distinguish simply the threats with which he tried to intimidate the newly arrived girl >
from the actual steps up the stairs to the bedroom on the second floor. "

“At night, a new prisoner was once again brought. In the fourth cell, we distinctly heard her groans (probably already after the night“ procedures ”), while she was led by the corridor to the sixth -
another female cell. It was Palych who led her, covering her with all possible obscenities and assuring her that she will be raped, if censored to say. It is difficult to imagine what an ordinary woman feels, who only yesterday lived with prices in a store and clothes for a child
and today she has gone through torture with a direct threat that she will be raped tomorrow."

“From the snatches of the conversation, I understood that at night the newcomer had an inflammation - probably in the female part, maybe - as a result of torture, since Palych said that
there was no gynecologist at Izolyatsia. He did not lie - there were no doctors here at all, except for the sadist, who conducted the initial examination, and the day before he always participated in the torture of those later examined."
the book mentions that women are also psychologically broken, threatened with violence against their children and parents, threatened with gang rape. often women end up in "Isolation" with their boyfriend or husband, the administration throws them in the next cell >
and tortures them on purpose for woman to hear it and go crazy

Stanisval also mentions a story of father and son: they were brought in the same cell. naked, they were tortured in front of each other: militarists were putting electric wires in the son's anus, beat the father
while the son had to look at it.

the tortures took place at the same time every day. and one day, while the executors weren't coming at the time, the father hid in the corner, whimpering "bear it, son, bear it".

by now, there are 295 captives in the camp. 30 of them are women
and what does this horrifying place look like?

the photos of "Isolation" can be found here radiosvoboda.org/a/izoliatsiya-…
russian Wikipedia repeatedly tries to delete the article about "Isolation". one of the administrators of the russian Wikipedia - Grig siren - added a tag "to delete", because, in his opinion, the content of the article is not important.
this whole thread is only a tiny bit of the whole unimaginable horror that is happening in "Isolation" the very moment I write this thread

this thread was translated from another one, written in Ukrainian
the original thread was created after so-called "Gon zine" project which collaborates with russians while inviting Ukrainian artist to make content for it started deleting comments about war and "Isolation" on their Instagram page here instagram.com/gon_zine?utm_m…
such things as war, torture and crimes against humanity are being constantly ignored even here in Ukraine, by the citizens who want to distance themselves from what is happening in their country.

they believe, that during the war it is totally OK to ignore it
and not even collaborate with the country started a war in their home, but to shut up the once who do not find it a cool idea and want to spread awareness as well

I have no English-speaking followers and I am desperate when translating the information to spread
but please, if you see this - share. while russia is leading a campaign of disinformation and lie, using its wide influence all over the world, the only thing that we Ukrainians have is only our voices. only us, and nothing more. the people in "Isolation" have no one, but us
