A little math re: childcare for #exln44

For my 2.5 year old, we pay $318/week or $16,854/year

Under the proposed Liberal plan: cost = $2,600/year

The CPC are proposing a tax credit of up to 75% for low income families which means a credit of $12,402

That’s a huge difference
I’d rather see costs lowered upfront to the tune of 85% less (!!) under the Liberals than ask low-income families to wait until tax season to see any benefit. They will still have to pay upfront costs

Not to mention, the Liberals plan, from what I’ve read, is universal
As noted by some lovely tweeps,

- what’s the limit on said tax credit?
- what’s the income limit?
- does this mean no plan for middle-income families?
- how does this help people get back into the workforce if they can’t wait until April to see reimbursement?

It’s 1/2 a plan

I called Mammoliti today about his “cockroaches” comments made on Rebel Media. He called me back.

It didn’t go well. /1

I’ll fully admit I was already angry when we spoke but instead of trying to listen to my concerns, he berated me.

He told me I want to “hug thugs” and said the ppl of Jane&Finch need to stop “shooting themselves” /2
He reiterated that he wants to tear down the public housing at Jane&Finch and put in mixed housing to give ppl choice.

I pointed out that tearing down someone’s home & forcing them to move isn’t giving them a choice, it’s the opposite. /3
