Conversations around #development and #socialimpact are obfuscated by project management jargon that focus on deliverables and timelines.
.@Deval_Sanghavi wanted to cut through this jargon to get to the real stories of success and failure in the #developmentsector. So why not a frequently used term or phrase that made people groan or eye roll?
While there can be no real timeline for social impact and change, most development projects are framed (and funded) for 3 and 5 year cycles. It’s not uncommon for organisations to run out of time before delivering the social change promised.
A #NoCostExtension extends the project end date but without additional funding and it perfectly encapsulates the power dynamic that frames the relationship between “donor” and “recipient”.
Which is why we narrowed down on #NoCostExtension - it's a dry and drab term that pops up a little too often in development sector projects.
.@Deval_Sanghavi thinks it’s time for India’s #philanthropy sector to step down from its pedestal, stop hiding behind the jargon, and have a frank conversation about what’s really working, and more importantly what’s not.
