And what makes it annoying is searching. It’s not straightforward. You type “Remote virtual assistant worldwide” and it will pull location-specific jobs :/
Tbh. Finding remote gigs for people outside of the US is still a mess because:
1. Job boards have horrible interfaces
2. Their platforms do not take keywords seriously
3. The sign up process alone is a lot. It’s off putting for newbies.
There tends to be a weird belief that remote work/freelancing is “easier” than “traditional” jobs. It is not. It’s an alternative based on one’s preferences but it is not easier.
And though everyone is talking about “a new remote world” the systems that are to make this happen are still behind/learning. Especially for remote workers outside of the US, Canada, UK, etc.
I say all this to say please don't throw around "oh just get a remote job" as an easy fix for unemployment. It's pivoting into a new industry, it's still facing rejection, it's trying to figure things out alone.
One day it'll be easier, I hope. But right now it's not.

Putting the hashtag there to make it easier to track. Also I struggled to find a good way to post + make it easy to share, so I'll put each day's gigs in a Notion doc and see where we go with that.
Just remembered something my Dad did during our family call yesterday. He went through our family photos the other day and found an old form for a netball tour to Malaysia. I’m pretty sure that’s from when I was 16.
But during the call yesterday he randomly apologized for not letting me go on the tour. I’d forgotten all about it but the memory came back after some serious recollection.
I remember why they said no - tbh it was valid. And I ended up going on a better tour the next year. But the fact that he remembered that and apologized…I laughed it off. But that really resonated with me.
