WHY RATIONALITY IS IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND SCRIPTURES :-

Yoga vasistha is an amazing book consisting of countless stories. It illustrates that thr r atleast 3 ways to know ultimate truth - Reasoning, experience & god realisation. So let's see some imp verse on logic/reasoning.
Words that are logical are to be accepted even if it's spoken by a child. Otherwise they are to be rejected as straw even if it comes from the mouth of great lotus born brahma himself ( 2.18.3 )
He who is blind to "reason" is like one born blind. A demented man is an object of universal pity, but a man with reasoning soul possess divine eyesight and victorious in all things. ( 2.14.41 )
It must be recognised that we lessen our sorrows by acting with reason. Therefore reasonable men are never to be disregarded. ( 2.12.12 )
Right understanding weakens the sensuous mind, but wrong understanding only serves to increase its irrational sensuousness. ( 6.44.28 )
Though the sensational mind exists in us, yet it seems to be quite non existent & extinct before the light of our rationality, just as the copper appears to disappear when melted with gold. ( 6.44.29 )
Therefore this world is said to be the manifestation of divine mind. The learnt arive at this conclusion through logical consideration of the antecedent and subsequent arrangements. ( 7.131.27 )
The false knowledge or predisposition towards towards the reality of the world has been long prevalent like a chronic disease, and must be removed only by specific mantra of reasoning. ( 3.9.39 )
Therefore listen to what i say in order to dispel ur fallacy of the world through arguments, logical inferences and habitual meditation. ( 3.9.41 )
There is nothing other than the rational knowledge that can enable holy men to endure the afflictions of the opposite extremes of heat and cold and wind and rain. ( 2.11.39 )
Lack of spiritual light misleads the mind from it's rationality and makes it takes it's false imagination for true, like children thru their fear and lack of true knowledge are impressed with a belief of ghost in the shadows. ( 3.65.8 )
Inquire now into the nature of truth with a rational understanding. Being freed from all errors and bias, discard all that is false and untrue. ( 3.102.8 )
The irrational mind is as the rampant lord of desert land and quickly drives us into all sorts of dangers and difficulties. ( 3.102.40 )
Some persons rely on the union of body and soul. Others who rely on the soul alone are placed beyond the reach of error. And those who rely only on their consciousness shine as rational beings. ( 4.18.58 )
Any rational being who properly sees the error of the world will forsake his delusions of egoism, like a snake casts of it's skin. ( 4.48.3 )
Simple reason overcomes all it's adversaries who indulge in diverse (convoluted) forms of reasoning, just as disciplined warriors is able to overcome a host of unrestrained savages. ( 5.12.33 )
Reasoning is the philosophers stone that converts base metals into gold. Rational souls safeguard reasoning as the greatest treasure. It yields the desired fruits of men like the wish-fulfilling kalpa tree of paradise does with a thought. ( 5.12.34 )
All the solid substances in the universe becomes rarified air when they are put to the test of rational analysis, just like the stalwart apparition of demon vanishes into nothing, when the child awakes. ( 7.51.26 )
So it's clear from the above verses that one should know how to use logic/reasoning to understand the depth of scriptures or even abt anything in life, instead of blindly following something without any understanding of the subject !

VEDIC COLLEGES IN ANCIENT TAMILNADU :-

There are multiple evidences of setting up of vedic colleges regularly from the time of Rājarāja the great. In all these places, the 3 vedas Rig, Yajur (with an emphasis on Taitirīya samhita) and
Sāma veda (both chandoga sāma & Talvalāra sāma) were included without fail. In one place, AtharvaVeda were also included. In all colleges, vedānta and mimāmsa were invariably included. The two schools of mimāmsa namely kumarila bhatta and prābhākara school were also included.
The next subject of importance was sanskrit vyākarana & pānini's Ashthādhyāyi mentioned by name in Rājarāja's college at Ānur. Besides Ashthādhyāyi, simpler version of grammar->Rūpāvatāra was included in all the four colleges. In the view of Dharmasastra, manusmriti was included.

You are wrong..there r mentions of lord aiyappa in tamil literatures. The Tamil song, Shasta Varavu, states that there are 8 important incarnations and forms of Shasta. Among the Ashta-Shasta, the Adi Maha Sastha (Aiyanar) and Dharma Shasta (Ayyappan) are widely worshipped.
The iconography of Sastha is discussed in Agama texts such as Amsumadbhedaagama, Karanaagama and Suprabhedaagama. Sastha or Ayyappa was essentially a Tamil deity, according to H. Sarkar, who conducted one of the most comprehensive architectural surveys of Kerala temples.

DETAILED ANALYSIS OF MANUSMRITI :-

This thread is mainly abt Manusmriti seen from a historians/indologist's perspective. Not for orthodox people ! ImageImage
Manava Dharmasastra (MDh) among the ancient Indian treatises on dharma was clearly established by the 5th century CE and possibly as early as the 3rd CE.
Many historians/indologist came to a conclusion that manusmriti was not composed by a single author as it was a gradual process at the hands of anonymous and successive compilers, editors, and copyists lasting for several centuries.

Amongst many allegations levelled by the critics against Savarkar, the following two are most prominent:

*Savarkar “apologised” to the British and then turned into a “British agent”
*Savarkar opposed the Quit India movement and helped British by recruiting hindus in army! Image
Savarkar favoured the militarisation of hindus even before WW2 occured ! And if he was a "British stooge" why did he write a letter to US prez to persuade UK to withdraw British imperialism? ImageImageImageImage
Savarkar concluded that even though u openly resist Indian soldiers placement in British military, it doesn't gonna matter as u r already supporting them indirectly through taxes, working in postal, railways etc! So we should seize this opportunity!Even Netaji supported his view! ImageImageImageImage
