On the way out the door to finally get a break overnight and celebrate a friend’s wedding. Got the call his platelets are low and #NateTheGreat needs a blood transfusion immediately. (Record scratch in my mind)

Wrap head around this
Have to go to the ER DURING COVID
There’s no room in the transfusion center. So we have no choice but to race him to @UCDavisChildren ER. The same one that has seen a ridiculous increase of #Covid patients.
Fuck each and every one of you who are in the ER, TAKING A BED FROM MY BABY because you refuse to get vaccinated and mask up.
And forcing my neutropenic, low platelet son to sit next to you and wait for hours for blood to help him live.
Breaking. How can people care so little about others. Every single one of you who still holds out on getting vaccinated is making me live each day in abject fear.
Been there before. When husband was in Baghdad for 15 months. Thanks for adding to that trauma.
I have no idea how long he’ll have to wait for a bed to get the blood he needs. How many minutes he’ll sit exposed to #covidiots in the waiting area. Or my husband, who has to bring him while I stay with the other kids.
“I barely just came home from the hospital!!” He cries at me.
How do you explain to a little boy he’ll have to spend half the night back at the ER because selfish people are taking up all of the beds already?
Texted my best friend who works at same hospital.
“We’re so burned out with the extra patient load. And their f*cking selfishness”
She’s scared for #NateTheGreat too. That’s a fucking HORRIBLE feeling.
WHAT MORE HAS TO HAPPEN FOR THIS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY?! How many “I should have gotten the vaccine” stories or images of kids with cancer are needed before people get it?!?
Still waiting to hear word that they’ve even arrived at the hospital. It’s going to be another long night. Thanks anti-vaxxers.
