Sending STUPID SIMPLE emails for e-commerce brands
[THREAD] 👇
If you’re reading this
I'm going to breakdown what I did to help me generate 6 figures in profit
In literally 15 months from getting fired at my 9-5
By starting an email marketing agency
1. LEARN COPY
The first skill you’re going to want to learn is copywriting
You’ll need to spend around 30-45 days learning this skill relentlessly
30-45 days is nowhere near enough time to be at mastery level...
...but we want to take imperfect action & 30-45 days is more than enough
If you work a full-time job
If you have kids
If you go to college
All you really need to do is block out 2 hours of uninterrupted time Monday through Friday...
Then weekends 4 hours between both Saturday & Sunday (minimum)
If you have more time than money, then there are plenty of free resources online when it comes to learning copy
If you have more money than time there are plenty of paid courses that will suffice
2. LEARN EMAIL MAREKTING
The next thing you’re going to want to do after you’ve learned how to write copy is to learn about email marketing
Email marketing is the service you’re going to pitch later on to eCommerce brands...
The best FREE resource available right now is the Klaviyo Academy
@klaviyo is the platform that you are going to use to send out emails for the eCommerce brands that you work with
EVERYTHING you need to know about email marketing is here & for FREE: academy.klaviyo.com
3. CRAFT YOUR OFFER
The next step is to craft your offer & figure out what type of eCommerce brands you want to work with
As a beginner, I'd recommend working with several niches first in the eCommerce niche & then potentially niching down into a specific type of niche...
With your offer you want to offer certainty & clarity, so:
→ Who do you help
→ How long will it take to get results
→ What happens if you don’t get results
For example:
"I help eCommerce brands generate at least 20% of their store’s total revenue from email without spending any money on paid ads in 60 days or less using email marketing (or your money back)"
It sounds better than “I do email marketing for eCommerce brands”...
....your positioning and perceived value to the prospect are raised significantly
As a beginner positioning is everything & I personally would say that you don’t necessarily need to work for free,
But at the same time, you need to make sure you are performance-focused...
...and making it a total no-brainer for a client to work with you, there needs to be zero risks involved for them especially as a beginner
So you could offer a few things:
→ A reduced trial period
→ Small flat fee and then performance
4. SALES
You want to ensure you know how to pitch your services
Sales is literally a conversation between two people
Where one person has the solution to another persons problem
Do not overthink this...
...There is no perfect script HOWEVER you want to have a framework
The one book I’d recommend to learn how to sell is
“You can’t teach a kid to ride a bike at a seminar” by Sandler
After you’ve read it craft a sales framework & process custom to YOUR personality
5. OUTREACH
For eCommerce, these guys get pitched every single day
You need to stand out, especially as a beginner
Best way to stand out is to make your outreach message personalized
→ Personalized Video Messages
→ Personalized Video Audits
→ Personalized Compliment
Reach out either via email, Instagram, Linkedin, etc
Also, ensure you have a multichannel approach when reaching out
The money is in the follow up have a good follow up sequence in place on other platforms
I would focus on quality outreach, sending 20 of these a day minimum
6. VIDEO TESTIMONIAL
Once your first client is closed you want to ensure that you are doing everything in your power to:
→ Build & develop exceptional rapport
→ Overcommunicate
→ Overdeliver & underpromise on the results you can get
→ Get a video testimonial
The video testimonial is really what you want
This is GOLD!
Make sure the moment you get results you try & get your client to provide you with a testimonial
This testimonial is now what you will rinse and repeat to get more clients...
...that should be your ONLY goal when it comes to working with your first client
With more experience, you can work with bigger brands, that have bigger budgets
Then raise your prices provided the economics makes sense for the brands you reach out to
7. PRICING
Ideally, you want to charge based on the return on investment you can get for the client
eg. If a brand makes $10K a month it does not make sense to charge them $3000 for your services
Yet you’re only able to generate an extra $3000 a month...
You need to factor in the cost of goods, margins, etc
My agency has a calculator custom built where we put things such as traffic, AOV, margins, etc to find out whether our services make sense for the prospect
You have to have the prospect's best interest at heart here...
....work out what you want to charge but note that right now money is not the main objective with your first client
Getting a testimonial is
One client testimonial can change your life
We are only really charging the first client to help with positioning & perceived value.
As a beginner, I would say your first client realistically you can be looking at charging anywhere from $500-1000 depending on the scope of work
Do NOT feel pressured into charging something silly because a guru told you to do so
Think of this as paid work experience.
The money will come
After you have experience & feel more confident you can look at charging anywhere between $1500-$6000 per month provided the economics & ROI makes sense
If you have any questions or need help feel free to drop me a DM
I hope someone finds this useful 🙏
