/ It's extremely important for registrants (especially #paramedics) to participate in this HCPC consultation. No person with their profession & good character at stake should be forced to have a #FitnessToPractise hearing by Zoom. Remote hearings should only occur by consent.
/ All studies on remote hearings have noted their significant disadvantages by comparison to in-person hearings.
"We must acknowledge that for many people and in many cases they are not going to provide the best form of hearing we can offer" - Sir Keith Lindblom
/ I'm concerned that the HCPC has vehemently opposed all requests for in-person hearings since Spring 2020 & has (prior to this consultation even launching) relinquished much of its London hearing space. Please participate in the consultation & try to protect registrants' rights
/ Final point - remote hearings are GREAT for us as lawyers (no travel, hurrah!) and GREAT for the HCPC. However, they are, generally, awful for registrants. That's why they should be opposed, except where a registrant consents.
