Solana is a third-generation blockchain that supports smart contracts and high growth dapps. It was founder by @aeyakovenko and @rajgokal in 2017 as an open-source project.

It has 8 core innovations but the most important is called Proof of History PoH.

Proof of history:- A consensus mechanism based on time in which instead of trusting timestamps given on a block, you could prove that a message occurred at a specific time before and after an action.

Let's Talk about scalability:-
Solana is very fast and scalable so it does not sharding to any Layer 2 solution like ethereum, which makes it very developer-friendly as devs don't have to deal with different shards or integrating with a layer two solution.

Solana Smart contracts:-

The development community may have some problems as Solana’s smart contracts are not EVM compatible, and that just means that all the dapps on the ethereum can’t be easily ported over.
