How to make your site faster.

A curated list of TOP resources 👇
First of all, why does site speed matter? 🤔

There are a lot of studies, such as "53% of mobile users abandon sites that take over 3 seconds to load"

marketingdive.com/news/google-53…

No doubt that speed affects conversion and user experience.

So how to improve the speed?
🔸Eliminate render-blocking resources

The goal is to reduce the impact of the render-blocking URLs by inlining critical resources, deferring non-critical resources, and removing anything unused.

🔸Scripts: async, defer

Both async and defer have one common thing: downloading of such scripts doesn’t block page rendering.

So the user can read page content and get acquainted with the page immediately.

Pros & Cons of using vertical navigation.

Thread 🧵
One of the main advantages of vertical navigation is the ability to fit easily your IA (information architecture).

For horizontal navigation, you have the width limit that leads to having a "more" link or the "three dots" icon that shows the rest of the options.
You might not know in advance how many categories you'll have.

And vertical navigation gives you some assurance that if you need to add more, it's highly likely you won't need to do any redesign process.

In horizontal navigation, it might be a challenge.
