The latest #COVID19 vaccine hesitancy data (23 June to 18 July 2021) show that 8% of 16- to 29-year-olds were hesitant towards vaccination.
This new analysis looks at reasons for vaccine hesitancy based on in-depth interviews with a group of young adults ow.ly/BbZ650G3BKt
The main reasons for vaccine hesitancy among 16-29-year-olds included a distrust of vaccine (safety and content) and those who were encouraging vaccine take up.
We also saw concern about known and unknown side effects (including on fertility) ow.ly/Dyhj50G3BQr
Changes in vaccine hesitancy appeared related to
▪️ media influences
▪️ experiences of others having the vaccine
▪️ opinions of those in close social networks
Generally, hesitant participants considered having the vaccine in the future.
However this was often far in the future as they wanted to know more about long-term side effects and for more information, research, and medical studies to be available ow.ly/6Dbl50G3C2k
These findings are from a small sample of young adults, predominantly in England, and should not be generalised across wider populations ow.ly/8CtE50G3C5N
