President Kagame On COVID-19: I trust that life will get back to normal. It’s not easy because we still don’t know the real cause behind this virus, what is coming next, when does it end.
President Kagame: We need to stay vigilant and use all the information available to keep updating ourselves on how to prevent its spread and keep on fighting it.
President Kagame: The pandemic is here but we have also established measures to curb its spread. We use what is available to fight it in all the ways possible.
President Kagame: When the Covid-19 vaccines were manufactured, African countries including Rwanda waited for a long time for them to get here. When they came, a lot of lives had been lost and a lot more were at stake.
President Kagame: To get these vaccines we had to beg incessantly to those that were producing them, which was also very tiring in itself.
President Kagame: All this reminded us that; usually, when we have a pandemic in Africa, the world comes to our rescue. But that is when they are not dealing with the same issue back home.
President Kagame: This time it was different, we were all suffering from the pandemic at the same time. This is when we thought about helping ourselves as Rwanda, and as Africa.

President Kagame: This story gained significance or prominence when the name of Rwanda was injected into the whole thing. Spying itself is as old as human beings. There are so many tools used by everybody in this world. But when Rwanda’s name is mentioned it’s for a reason.
President Kagame: The names they picked that we could have used it against was done deliberately.
President Kagame: Rwanda’s relationship with South Africa was improving and it didn’t please some people who had their own reasons. They injected it in so that the warming of relations between the two countries does not continue.
President Kagame: As we were rebuilding the country after the tragic history following 1994, actually years before that as well, part of the things we discovered was we have to invest in our people, in education, in their health & many other things. We have to start somewhere.
President Kagame: As we were rebuilding our education, we found we were starting from scratch in some instances and that is how we found we had to send some of our young people to study abroad, we did not have enough here.
President Kagame: As we were thinking about what to do, as the country was stabilizing, we thought how do we establish strong institutions in Rwanda so we have our own institutions developing to take in some of our students
President Kagame: The medical career is guided by certain ethics and principles just like other careers, but how you translate them into actions is what determines that you really understand those principles. #MeetThePresident
President Kagame: It is good and important for people to have principles, but it doesn’t mean that those principles are applied. When those principles are not applied right, we lose a lot and that’s the basis of most of the problems we face. #MeetThePresident
President Kagame: On one hand, it is up to you, the professionals and practitioners, you are the one who invested in yourself, in your education and gaining knowledge in what is needed. #MeetThePresident
President Kagame begins keynote address: I am very pleased to join you here today, to launch the Mara Phones factory, which is the first of its kind in our continent. The first smartphones ever to be made in Rwanda have already rolled off the assembly line #MadeInRwanda
President Kagame: The Mara Phone joins a growing list of high-quality products that are made in our country. Producing smartphones is not a simple matter. Around one thousand individual components are involved as we have been taken through the whole process #MadeInRwanda
President Kagame: The Mara Phones plant is therefore a complex manufacturing operation requiring significant technical skill and expertise. It is another milestone on our journey to high-tech, “made-in-Rwanda” industry #MadeInRwanda
President Kagame on economic growth: Growth of the economy should be about how that contributes to the wellbeing of people, what we can do to improve their living standard and for most of them to achieve their aspirations
President Kagame on community based health care and insurance: We made sure that even for the category of poor people at the bottom, we had to cultivate in their mind that if they contribute even the smallest amount they can afford, they own it and they feel it is theirs.
President Kagame: Good morning, and a warm welcome to all of you. We are here to observe the anniversary of Rwanda’s liberation. #kwibohora25
President Kagame: It is a privilege to mark this occasion, in the company of so many friends of Rwanda, from around the world. I thank you all, on behalf of our country, for your solidarity and friendship over many years. It means a great deal to us. #Kwibohora25
President Kagame: I most especially thank our brothers and sisters, the Heads of State and First Ladies, who have made the journey to be with us today. #Kwibohora25
