Yup both 6 feet and 15 minutes are nonsense.

6 foot appear to come from late 1500s. Length of plague stick. Not joking.

15 minutes is made up. Nobody can even find the origin of that one.

It was all cognitively to support droplet, which was Chapin's guess in 1912.

A _guess_
6 feet coming from 1590. I wish I were joking. This is beyond parody.

After this was some studies in early 1900s where bacteria found within 6 feet but there were other studies that contradicted this.

After THAT was 1981 and the ridiculous baby study.
This was a contagion doctrine. Generally was time of miasma theory (disease floats everywhere over long distances).

1800s, germ theory taught us WE harbour the germs, and they knew we exhaled, but Chapin 1912 said droplet. Wells tried to say otherwise but ignored.

Then COVID.
And to complete the story this is the CLOSEST I ever found for 15 minutes and Lord have mercy on our human myth-repeating souls if this is supposed to be evidence-based pandemic response:

.@jeremychrysler just wrote an excellent thread on this with some of the confusion over the years.

So, #COVIDisAirborne.

Floats. Like smoke.

Indeed all respiratory diseases are. When you do not see a lot of spread, it's because disease not as contagious as others. It is not because it is predominantly "droplets" or not.

Avoid indoors, mask, ventilate, filter.
All the other threads mentioned can be found in links branching off this one:

If you want a really good, albeit sad, story, this one about Wells and Wells husband and wife team who fought their whole lives to show things were airborne, is my favourite.

Here is a list of air experts, poach it, follow it, do whatever you want. They know their stuff.

If I had to pick two on air @jljcolorado and @kprather88, for knowing history, errors, and advocacy for air matters, but lots of good names out there.
#COVIDisAirborne

Virus moves like smoke. Avoid indoor, mask, filter, ventilate.

And healthcare needs N95s and up.

Many commenters said "SARS-CoV-2 isn't measles".

Impression that measles was a terror and this was no big deal.

But how deadly was measles?

Well, in US, before vax, 3-4mm caught and 400 died each year.

400

COVID-19 currently 665k Image
cdc.gov/measles/about/… for example historical view and more info
As I like noting, measles numbers were gathered not during 18 months of some degree of restrictions.

Two seconds of searching, and there was one in Cornwall closed already too. Then re-opened.

Make no mistake. All the people now saying maybe we made a mistake are safe in summer homes with very rich salaries.
At this stage as a lawyer I am comfortable suggesting that the commissions we strike should consider criminal charges

Eg France's ex Health Minister (I believe) was recently indicted

Everybody should save their e-mails. If those go missing it is spoliation and contempt of court

I can smell smoke in my N95. Does that mean it's not working?

No. Odoriferous molecules (like sulfur) are tiny and pass through the N95.

Just like air. This is why you don't "is he ded?" when you wear a mask

Here's an article on smoke/masks:

I cannot believe we are still having this discussion.

COME ON people. Some of you are in industries that should know how to search the internet.
