If the figures quoted in @LiveLawIndia article are correct, 2530000000 trees are to be planted along 639 km of river=1278 sq km or 127800 ha area. That's a ridiculously high density ~20,000 trees/ha! No ecosystem on earth has such densities. Total scam or ecological disaster! 4/n

I've written about how such tree planting can cause more harm than good. Many involve celebrities--in the present case a person (so-called 'god-man') literally capitalising on ecological ignorance to hoodwink a genuinely concerned public. n/n thehindu.com/sci-tech/energ…
