It’s that time to remind everyone The Matrix is a trans allegory written by two closeted trans women.
“You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.”
You can read a great in depth article on this written by @emilyvdw
Incidentally, the movie was a huge part of my coming out experience. It originally came out when I was first making my big self-realizations that I was trans as a teenager.
Likewise, it meant a lot to me that a trans person can achieve the pinnacle of success in their career.
We stan our trans Matrix allegory creators
“It seems you have been leading two lives, Mr Anderson. One of these lives has a future, and the other … does not"
This whole thing makes it extra funny that right wingers have appropriated "redpilled"
The Switch was supposed to literally switch genders between the matrix/offline.
"And so we had the character of Switch, who was like, a character who would be, you know a man in the real world and then a woman in the Matrix, and, you know, that's both where our headspaces were."
I remember this particular quote got me through a lot of my early transition:
"I can't go back can I?"
"No, but if you could, would you?"
Speaking of metaphors for transition, an empty piggy bank is a metaphor for transition health care. Consider helping me obtain GRS by making a donation <3
Alright so anyway. Watched Natalie/Contrapoints. I'm going to type out my thoughts. I hope I've built up good will with all of you to say these things, and I don't think any of this is outside of my character and who I am.
It all boils down to... love your neighbor as yourself.
I don't know Natalie. I don't know many of you. Twitter is an impersonal space for us to share our personal stories. I have been shown great love here and I'm so, so thankful for it. You've all helped me grow as a person and become someone I am proud of.
Similarly, all of my life, I've always tried to help others grow as people to. Central tenets to my personality and morality have always been: forgiveness, seeing good in people, and helping my fellow neighbors grow and showing them love.
