While EV uptake has been increasing people still understandably have questions and so we have created a 'Common Misconceptions' leaflet to address this #EVMisconceptions#WorldEVDay gov.uk/government/pub…
1 - EVs don’t have the battery range to travel as far as people need
Reality - By car, 99% of journeys in England are under 100 miles, meaning most drivers’ needs are easily met by an electric car!
Find out more by following the link in the first tweet #EVMisconceptions
4 - EVs are too expensive
Reality- EVs do cost more to buy outright but they benefit from a huge advantage in running costs and much lower maintenance costs
Some forecasts show by the mid-late 2020s, EVs could be the same price to purchase as a petrol/diesel car #EVMisconceptions
8 - It takes too long to charge an electric vehicle
Reality- Most charging will be done at or near home overnight
However, new cars are typically capable of charging up 120 miles or more in as little as 20 minutes – the time it takes to enjoy a cup of coffee. #EVMisconceptions
10-The electricity grid won’t be able to cope with EV uptake
Reality-We are confident the grid can cope through grid upgrades. Smart charging reduces demand for new infrastructure and EVs could benefit the grid in time through technologies i.e. vehicle to grid #EVMisconceptions
