A few points....
⚽️we're not here to take the kids clubs won't take while they pretend to be inclusive
⚽️equal playing time means we're more not less serious about football.
⚽️poaching isn't coaching
⚽️if you don't get what we're doing, please don't come to our club. Simple.
And some more..
⚽️institutions have power. We rely on them to listen, to act fairly, to reflect & show learning. If they don't, or won't, we can do nothing. There is impunity. So don't act like a victim when your organisation has the power.
2/
⚽️football is about community not self-interest.
⚽️ checkout promised pathways .. ask for evidence
⚽️if it's all about the kids, why is there only football when the league season starts?
3/
⚽️you shouldn't have @EnglandFootball accreditation if you select or don't offer equal playing time. You can. But the FA should get its act together with this.
⚽️don't sanction events or tournaments without a basic Respect policy or don't claim #weonlydopositive
4/
⚽️are we more concerned with not upsetting adults than setting standards?
⚽️screaming and shouting at primary aged kids is not a 'great match'. Its a toxic environment. Grow up.
⚽️if you need to constantly direct kids in a match, why do you think you're such a great coach? 5/
⚽️don't say 'the kids had a great time' if you've not even asked them
⚽️coach education which is adults talking to adults about what they should make kids do is problematic
⚽️there's too much turf war and organisation posturing in sport.
6/
⚽️as a game, we don't support women coaching .. we don't even ask what it feels like to be a female coach.
⚽️concentrating only on the positives does not make the negatives go away....let's see how that worked with racism/sexism etc. Instead, it creates a silencing culture 7/
⚽️ children's rights is more than safeguarding but safeguarding is undermined if you don't understand rights. Educate your organisation.
⚽️Being a good footballer means being a good footballer, it doesn't mean club hopping for winning teams
8/
⚽️adults getting worked up about the score of an u7 game means something has gone very wrong with their outlook.
⚽️laughing when a child misses a penalty in a tournament is despicable.
⚽️playing 15 year olds in men's set ups... 🙄
⚽️ we value numbers over environment quality 9/
⚽️the game won't change until we think long-term
⚽️much of the change needed is cultural and reflects kids' over adult directed lives
⚽️adults need to have some integrity and call out the nonsense and set an example to kids.

I could go on, and on.....

Do we confuse being child-centred/led with being nice to children? Do we need to explore the difference? Paternalism and autonomy are different. We need to understand both and where we stand on the continuum between them at any given time.
Shall we share some things we have learnt?
1. Kids don’t care about your coaching qualifications, or how much you think you know about football. Adults do. Kids don’t. They care about your support and whether they like you. Just say that again. Kids don’t care about what you think you know.
