The judge is going to issue his ruling at 4 pm. We'll soon know if lawyers can intervene against the NRA's leadership on behalf of two NRA members.
The lawyers for the NRA members trying to intervene just announced they've added an NRA board member to their motion. The board member in question is Rocky Marshall.
The judge denies the motion to intervene by the individual board members. He did say he would consider a future motion that included the NRA board member. He's giving his reasoning now.
Basically, the judge says there are too few members trying to intervene at this point. They'd need 5% of the NRA membership (which would be around 250,000) to meet the standard for intervening. At least, that's my understanding of what he's saying.
The judge says he's open to figuring out a way for allowing regular NRA members to submit their input on the case, though. That should be interesting.

I wasn't looking for a particular outcome when I was looking into the allegations against David Chipman. I was interested in vetting a candidate for one of the most powerful law enforcement positions in the federal government. I feel I did that and I'm glad I was able to.
The Reload won't shy away from investigating public officials up for powerful roles in government. And we won't shy away from telling many other stories about guns in America which often go unreported.

Which part are you alleging was fabricated and what is your evidence? This is a serious allegation and it ought to be accompanied by some actual evidence.
The Department of Justice and David Chipman himself confirmed the existence of Equal Employment Opportunity Complaints against him. My ATF sources corroborated they heard the story of Chipman making a racist remark before news of it broke. thereload.com/atf-agents-cor…
Chipman said he wasn't disciplined over the complaints and DOJ claims they were "meritless." But neither will say what was in the complaints or release them to the public or Congress. thereload.com/mcconnell-call…

There is a hearing in the New York AG's case against the NRA that will be live-streamed at 2:30 pm today. As @teamtrace reported earlier, you can watch live here by entering the password 5216: wowza.nycourts.gov/VirtualCourt/n…
@teamtrace I would expect an update in this hearing about the attempt by an NRA member, Frank Tait, to intervene in the suit in opposition to the current NRA leadership. That effort may be joined by some of the dissident board members including Rocky Marshall & Phil Journey.
This hearing is happening now. The Judge seems very skeptical about letting NRA members intervene in the case. The members' lawyers are making their case now.

The Reload is a self-funding publication that has only existed for 4 months at this point. But we were the only ones who were willing and able to scrutinize the background of President Biden's ATF nominee. Now that nomination is being pulled. thereload.com/white-house-pu…
There were, as I've reported, other factors that led to Biden's ATF nominee being pulled. He worked for gun-control groups. He made controversial statements mocking gun owners. But those were all known when he was nominated. The Reload broke actual news on his background.
The Reload's reporting led to every Republican member of the Senate Judiciary Committee calling for a new hearing on Chipman. It is also why Senator McConnell asked President Biden to withdraw his nomination to lead the ATF. thereload.com/mcconnell-call…

There were exactly two stories with any new information about David Chipman's background after his confirmation hearing in May. Both of them were Reload exclusives that garnered significant reaction on Capitol Hill.
Of course, neither of the stories received much coverage from major media outlets. Nor did they garner much journalistic curiosity or follow up. The stories I've seen thus far in Politico, WaPo, and CNN don't even mention they happened.
Take, for instance, Politico's write up. They mention that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called for Chipman to be withdrawn but there is not mention of the story that led him to do that.

I've rarely read a piece more packed with condescension and cliches. Has Frum ever even talked to a gun owner, let alone been friends with one? This piece is basically an argument that anyone even considering owning a gun is either deceived or dumb. Zero good-faith engagement.
The whole exercise is just pretending that all the data supports his believe that there is no upside to gun ownership. It's the same childish argument found in many ideological op-eds. It's written not to convince anyone but to reassure the reader who already agrees with him.
"Everything you belive about guns being bad is completely right and there's nothing anyone says to the contrary you need listen to," Frum whispers in his audience's ear.
