I like: 2. Committing to full in-person school all year. It was a catastrophic mistake last year that so many states kept kids out of school, which harmed them and did nothing for infection control.

I like: 3. Expanding access to rapid, at-home testing and making the tests more affordable for people
(3/9)
I don't like: 4. Threatening the right to work to coerce vaccination, This may increase vax uptake among workers, but will undermine confidence in PH. Many will become more skeptical of other PH recommendations, including other vax recommendations.
(4/9)
I do not like: 5. The political pressure that the WH plan puts on the FDA in their review of data on boosters and on vax for children. This kind of political pressure also undermines confidence in public health
(5/9)
I do not like: 6. The continued commitment to universal masking of children given the equivocal evidence base (no RCTs). This will increase political polarization and decrease confidence in PH by many.
(6/9)
I do not like: 7. No recognition of the reality of natural immunity in the vax mandates imposed. Not recognizing this scientific fact diminishes trust in public health and lowers the supply of vaccines where they are needed.
(7/9)
I do not like: 8. The vax efforts are focused on the younger low-risk working population rather than the much higher risk older population. As we approach the fall wave, we must quickly increase vax rates among the old, especially those with limited health care access.
(8/9)
I do not like: 9. Because of the lockdowns, we have an enormous medical care backlog that urgently needs to be attended to, including e.g cancer screening/treatment and mental health. This should be a top priority. Public health is about all diseases, not just COVID.

Some are suggesting that CA outperformed FL without any reference to FL's older population. Age is the single most important risk factor for poor COVID outcomes. Comparing CA and FL outcomes without mentioning this fact is misleading. (1/4)
