Firstly, we worked on procuring vaccines to Europeans.

A broad portfolio was created and today more than 70% of the adult population is fully vaccinated.

#SOTEU Image
In the spirit of European solidarity, we mobilised funding to support:

🩺 the delivery of equipment, medicines, antigen tests
🔬 urgent research into variants

More than €7.6 billion was reallocated under the Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative.

As soon as the health situation improved, we worked on a safe and gradual reopening of Europe.

We created the #EUCovidCertificate to travel safely and launched #ReopenEU as an information hub and travel planner.

#SOTEU Image
We’ve been working on a stronger European Health Union, focusing on emergencies, prevention and treatments.

In this spirit we created the #HERA incubator, we presented a new #EUCancerPlan, and adopted the #EUPharmaStrategy and #EU4health programme.

#SOTEU Image
The EU has been leading global efforts on vaccine exports.

We helped mobilise pledges from countries through the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator #COVAX.

The #GlobalHealthSummit also marked the beginning of a new chapter in global health policy.

A strong economy, competitiveness, and a clean future—we're making it happen.

Europe’s rich industrial heritage has a bright future ahead.

The #CleanIndustrialDeal is our plan to support 🇪🇺 industry to make it sustainable, competitive, and future-ready ↓ An illustration split into two contrasting halves. The left side is in grayscale and depicts a polluted, industrialized world with oil pumps, smokestacks emitting thick smoke, cut tree stumps, and a woman driving a car surrounded by pollution. The right side is colorful and represents a clean, sustainable future with wind turbines, solar panels, green hills, trees, and a woman in safety gear working in the renewable energy sector. The text at the top reads 'OUR CHOICE IS CLEAR,' with 'IS CLEAR' highlighted in blue. The European Commission logo is in the top right corner.
💡Affordable energy is the foundation of competitiveness.

Our Action Plan adopted today will lower energy bills for industries, businesses and households.

More clean energy, more efficiency using energy and less dependence on imported fossil fuels.
🇪🇺 The Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act will increase demand for EU-made clean products.

The criteria of #madeinEurope, sustainability, and resilience will be introduced in public and private procurements.

⚖️ 60 years since Costa v ENEL case

In 1964, the European Court of Justice established the primacy of EU law over national laws.

The principle of the primacy of EU law has developed over time and is now a declaration annexed to the Treaty of Lisbon

🏞️50 years since the launch of the European Regional Development Fund

It was created in 1975, laying the foundations for today’s EU regional policy and aiming to strengthen economic and social cohesion in the EU by correcting imbalances between its regions.

Dive back in time with this read made for its 10th anniversary in 1985:

Over 140 additional individuals and entities have been added to our list of persons subject to a freezing of their assets.

The list of newly designated legal persons covers, among others, actors in the Russian military and defence, including military industry companies.

#StandWithUkraineCard on individual listings of people and entities with the text: - Over 140 additional individuals and entities have been sanctioned. - The list targets those who have orchestrated the recent illegal so-called “elections” in the territories of Ukraine, or those responsible for the forced “re-education” of Ukrainian children.
The new sanctions on Russian diamonds are part of a coordinated G7 effort to introduce an internationally coordinated diamond ban.

It aims at depriving Russia of this important revenue stream estimated at €4 billion per year.
