A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency backed by reserves.

If I create eKalu currency it's worthless 😭. if I create eKalu currency backed by $, it's the same as $.

These Nigerian currency notes was backed by gold, you take note to CBN & redeem for gold worth £1 and 5 shillings.
This was the same in other nations.

US Dollar was also backed by gold.

Hence you see "will pay to bearer on demand" $5 in gold
In 1971, Nixon removed the $ from direct convertability. The Dollar was now backed by "full faith"....no "promise" to convert to gold
In 1973, Nigeria changed her currency from £ to Naira.

The "promise to pay" is also gone.

Naira is now backed by "full faith"

What's full faith? Crude oil, Cocoa, Rubber, exports.
The eNaira is pegged to the Naira.

It's not peged to the $ or gold.

This means it's not a stablecoin, but a digital coin built on the block chain open ledger.

To be a stablecoin, the CBN needs to allocate reserves, which it does not have.
So I see an opportunity.

UBA has a US banking license.

UBA can create a $ blocked accout in US and issue eUBA in Lagos, backed by those $ in New York. eUBA can be used to open LC. US depositing persons share fees with UBA or any issuing authority.
Anyone that can legally collect, and lockup $ in US can also issue local US cash-backed Cash.

The local eCash can only grow based on US dollars backing it, in effect a dollar peg.

If Emeka remits cash from US, cash sits in US, but local eCash created, which is the same as a $.
The local $ backed eCash will have rates that are market driven, and will relieve the pressure on CBN, but CBN will lose its ability to drive rates or "save the Naira".

So it's a choice between supply at market prices and control.

Remember, more supply means prices fall.

eNaira 101.

eNaira is a sovereign, Legal Tender, managed by the CBN.

You take 750 Naira, buy MTN card.

Then send MTN card to Uncle.

Uncle takes MTN card to Vendor, who gives him N750, no bank fees.

Replace "MTN" with "eNaira" replace "vendor" with "Bank"
The eNaira is pegged to the Naira.

This means you can load your wallet with eNaira and pay taxes to FIRS, no bank fees, no transaction fee, instant transfer, 24/7/365.

It is blockchain-enabled, but not crypto, thus you can track payments, it helps in stopping fraud.
Overall, this is a good start.

The CBN is now in the blockchain, which means other banks can also create their own eCoins, even tagged to the eNaira.

eZenith pegged to eNaira, used to pay Customs duty.

Next, eZenith pegged to eYuan, essentially a swap for importers.

How does an economy grow?

You import machines and systems to process inputs.

"Actors" are local, 'Camera" is foreign. The foreign cameras add value to local actors

Export, that pays for "camera" and local "actors". the excess is wealth.

They import the camera, hire local
Imports of foreign cameras are not a problem, as long as you can export and pay the camera manufacturer.

Local actors can't produce films without imported cameras. If imports of camera stop, local actors lose jobs

Can you make local cameras? Yes but not immediately.
The solution is not to mandate that cameras be made locally, and ban camera imports but to drop duty on imported cameras, make more films, then sell more local films

Exports pay for imports. As long as film exports are more, you are fine.

Reading the Statistical report on women and men in Nigeria by the NBS.

a few data points.

Women live longer than men in Nigeria, and the life expectancy of men is 47. Shocking.

You have to be 50 to get your full RSA benefits
Women and Men live the longest in Cross River. (Yes the rumors are true)
Who would have taught Edo State had the highest number of girls out of school?

Error? I checked the source document.

On August 27 1991, Abia State was created
There are many good things to celebrate about Abia State e.g. Abia has stayed constant in WAEC performance…Abia has always been among the top three states with WAEC pass rates…
Enyimba of Aba won Nigeria first and only Champions League Cup…twice.
“Aba-made” goods have not died off, rather they have been resilient and have survived. Aba remains one of the largest SME bases in sub-Saharan Africa.
