Do you guys know the meaning of the term "ketman"?

2/ In the former Soviet Union, ketman was the strategy everyone who wasn’t a true believer in communism adopted to stay out of trouble from the state authorities. You lived by lies to survive because you thought you had no other choice.
3/ I don't blame my ancestors for doing it - I wouldn't be alive today if they didn't practice ketman. The problem with ketman is that when you live a lie long enough, it corrupts your character and ultimately - society.
4/ too many people these days, especially in the West, fear to voice their true opinions on important issues. They fear for their jobs, their security, their reputation, the opinion of their social group - their fear descent from the established orthodoxy.
5/ I will let you in on a secret - something my parents and grandparents wished they knew when the communists took over our nations and destroyed the social cohesion of our societies. IT DOESN'T MATTER. When your overlords - be it the powerful State, or corporate oligarchy...
6/...or the cancerous symbiosis of both, want to get to you - they will get to you. It doesn't matter how well you play by their rules, even the smallest sign of potential dissidence will be enough of a reason to go after you.
7/ at that point, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain, so you might as well refuse to live by lies and speak the truth. As Solzhenitsyn once said - one word of truth outweighs the whole world.
8/ that's why I admire people like @normonics & @quachelsey - they embody everything I admire. Apart from being a model family, they made the choice to live by truth and by doing so they help foster small pockets of freedom and sanity in a world that's losing both.
9/ forward escape is the way to fight off totalitarians - they feed off from compliance, they feed off ketman. Building a counter-culture/parallel society/counter-economy is the only way to survive, thrive, and conserve.
10/ so, folks - live by truth! Do not partake in any activity that distorts it, focus on #localism and building bottom-up communities. Regardless of the outcome, one day your children will be thankful and proud of you. Be the honorable people your children believe you already are
