THREAD: America in 2001 vs. 2021:

Big political story August 2001: The debated, but never passed, Patients Bill of Rights

Big political story August 2021: Overhauling the Supreme Court to mandate abortion in Texas
1/
Since 9/11, the size of govt has more than tripled:

— Nat'l debt in 2001: $5.8 trillion

— Debt in 2021: $28.7 T

— Federal spending in 2000: $1.7 trillion

— Federal spending in 2021: $4.7 trillion

— 2001 budget: $129 billion surplus

— 2021 budget: $3 trillion deficit
Inflation —

In 2001, $1 bought .11 grams of gold

In 2021, $1 buys .017 grams of gold

A $1 from 2000 would buy $1.59 today

Health care:

The average monthly cost for single coverage, including both the employer and employee contribution, was $202

Today it’s $495/month
Security:

Biggest threat in 2001, per the then-WH: al Qaeda (had recently bombed the USS Cole)

Biggest threat in 2021, per the WH: "right wing domestic terrorists"
Airport security:

2001: Quick, uninvasive, and covered by airlines

2021: The TSA, a $9 billion agency — which has yet to thwart a single terror attack — now fines Americans for not wearing masks

/fin
Afghanistan:

2001: Taliban in control, al Qaeda given safe haven

2021: Taliban in control, ISIS & al Qaeda given safe haven

U.S. embassy in Kabul abandoned, alongside millions in military materiel

.@Simone_Biles: "We suffered and continue to suffer because no one at @FBI or U.S. AG or USOPC did what was necessary to protect us. We have been failed and we deserve answers. Nassar is where he belongs but those who enabled him deserve to be held accountable."
@Simone_Biles @FBI .@McKaylaMaroney: "After telling my entire story of abuse to the @FBI in the summer of 2015, not only did the FBI not report my abuse, but when they eventually documented my report, 17 months later, they made up entirely false claims about what I said."
@Simone_Biles @FBI @McKaylaMaroney Maroney: “The @FBI, U.S. OG and USOPC sat idly by while dozens of girls continue to be molested by Larry Nasser … They had legal, legitimate evidence of child abuse and did nothing … These FBI agents have committed an obvious crime; they falsified my report & that’s illegal.”

So far I’ve yet to see a single CNN/MSNBC commentator criticize Milley for reportedly telling China he’d tip them off in the case of an attack — & these are the same networks that spent the entirety of the Trump era fretting “Trump is a Russian agent!” “He’s a lawless dictator!”
If you watch the first clip in this thread, it appeared CNN's Camerota expected Rep. Garamendi to criticize Milley & was surprised when he didn’t. As the day progressed, the usual talking heads became increasingly assertive that actually Milley was on point b/c Trump is “insane"
So basically, the Deep State does exist & we should be grateful for it bc otherwise we'd be tied to the Constitution’s stodgy chain-of-command, which in this case means our enemy Donald Trump calling the shots, which as everyone knows is just a completely unacceptable alternative

.@RepGaramendi praises Gen. Milley for reportedly telling China he’d tip them off in the case of war w/ the U.S.: “Trump was unhinged by the election … I believe Milley would do that … he would call a meeting, given the concerns of an unhinged president”
@RepGaramendi CNN’s @jamiegangel: “Milley may be criticized for what some may think was overstepping his authority, but according to Woodward & Costa he felt he couldn’t trust Trump and that he needed to take any and all necessary precautions to prevent him from doing something dangerous."
@RepGaramendi @jamiegangel CNN’s @MarkHertling: “Gen. Milley took some very prudent measures … What he did was ensure the guardrails were in place. So I give him high marks for this based on what’s described in the book."

It seems more is known about this issue than has been let on. See this study from last year and then an updated one from last August. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32908214/

As I feared, Twitter has suspended the account that was publicizing concerns over ADE & Covid vaccines. If only censorship made the actual issue go away.
