A White friend admitted that's it really too hard to be an ally to me. That WP get to say that and they can walk away. They know we can't it's not an option and there lies privilege with a capital P.
I'm saying this after being in rooms where Black immigrants along with WP wanted to know why can't we agree that things are better. They literally acknowledged slavery still exists in the 13th via prisons but deny the effects of systemic racism. I was removed from the room.
We constantly said this is what all foreigners who come to this country say to us. They said it must be something to it because they are just an individual here. Another WP talking point. When I pushed back to say that's what WP say to us they rejected it.
And this is how the divide gets bigger. Someone being here for maybe 15 years thinks they know why it's better for those that have 400 years of legacy knowledge. They join the system that suppresses us and then repeat the exact same words of our oppressors.
"people come here with nothing and seem to be doing fine" why is that if this country is a racist system.
based on "stats" while denying the impacts of redlining, sundown town laws, that there is the same number of BP in prison as were slaves, tip wages based on slavery,
the education system that is literally operating in segregation in places like NYC, while we watch jim crow 2.0 with 48 states changing voting laws cause we picked a POTUS, violence on #J6 an insurrection attempt similar to 1898 Wilmington, state-sanctioned murders,
when harming or killing BP is considered "normal" cause of the "Black on Black" crime when WP have almost the exact same stat, 70% of people in jails with ZERO convictions, Black women dying in or after childbirth more than any other group of women. I can go on you know..
My point in saying this out loud is that we don't really have allys at all. That's part of the system. Helping us. Fighting for us gets people targeted. When I talked about the TX ban about taking away the resources and support systems is what an abuser does. That's this.
That's why those talking points we hear repeatedly exist despite the fact that most of you think you came up with it like we haven't heard it before for centuries. It's wild but mostly disingenuous. Y'all are demanding the victims prove why they are victims.
It's an ongoing framing of gaslighting and no accountability for all of the things listed. Honestly, IMHO it's why CRT is under attack it literally speaks to the laws that are created by this country that are based on race. This country doesn't even want the evidence.
I've tried many times to get people to ask the question that if we are really free why are the majority of BP still in the south. ie RURAL but the constant framing of us being urban is a talking point. Also, why is it the same slave cotton-picking states? Why Urban?!!
We are watching all forms of the southern strategy being deployed but yet things are better?!! Dixiecrats showing their true selves.
The truth is there is indeed Black American resentment that exists. To be honest with all of this it's justified. But America is afraid of the Angry Black person which is why it's a stereotype. White rage is fine. White resentment is just fine even when that violence lands on BP.
The other key piece I want to make sure I don't drop here is that people from outside our community are telling us how our community operates under this system. But also when foreigners say they have traveled. LIKE WUT?!! Black Americans don't travel too?

a few quick things I'm seeing in videos about the Texas ban. This is not a bounty on the person who are pregnant. it's about those that assist in the abortion.
The framing is to dry up the resources and support system around her. The way an abuser operates.
Abortions are still happening. Clinics are not closed. But this leads to the next thing being said.
"underground" networks!!
This is an epic-level offense to BW. I'll explain in the next tweet but see below if want to help before I go off.
This country specifically Women, ie WW, tend to remove our race from issues about reproductive discussions. It's a very problematic but common messaging and framing. It needs to end.
“Through our research, we have found that extremist voices from Conservative media have dominated the online discussions and that Black scholarship, which teaches Critical Race Theory in higher academic institutions, has been silenced…” — @digitalsistalink.medium.com/wSM8JTqZGib
Months of research and data collection lead us to the conclusion that Conservative Media isn't just controlling the discourse with mostly disinformation but that left-leaning media is helping to amplify instead of counter the narratives that are leading to legislation.
I'm going to talk about sundown towns in this thread today. I've been in several rooms on CRT and other aspects of the way we look at laws but also "the rules are the rules" framing that continues to go around. For most of us the rules and laws are for some.
Now. I've said this many times. Sundown towns still exist. Signs are still posted and Sirens go off. Yet I'm told over and over sundown towns are illegal. Asking for you so why are the signs and sirens still existing?
"The rules of a sundown town were simple: Black people were allowed to pass through during the day or go in to shop or work, but they had to be gone by nightfall. Anyone breaking the rules could risk arrest, a beating or worse." apnews.com/article/virus-…
Testosterone is not a drug y'all. It's a natural hormone. I don't know who needs to hear this but it odd to think we all don't both have both estrogen and testosterone naturally.
And I just in case folk get all literal on me. BOTH men and women have both estrogen and testosterone. If this is news to you read a book. They are hormones that have specific functions.
so if you want to come into this thread about masculine or feminine energy like that isn't a social construct versus biology. I'm not here for it. that's not this convo.
a personal note. I used to choreograph hip-hop dances. When I went off to camp. I would do the shows there and there was always this girl who I won't name that called herself a trained dancer that would always show up and try to take my moves. This is OLD... yes she was a Becky
and I will say it. One of the things that got me in trouble at home was the jams and dance battles. My competition gene was fierce and there were people who didn't like to lose to a girl. I had a crew that kept me safe.
Right now the media CONTINUES to do profile pieces on insurrectionists and white supremacists.
As a Black woman in this country with centuries of this behavior all I see is a repeat of what my Ma would whisper about. y'all are elevating people that want me and mine dead.
Those that continue to twist narratives that our defending ourselves from people who want us dead are the real racists and the violent ones.
But yet scream the first and second amendment. Just NOT for us. That's what you are saying. That's what you keep writing.
