Where to next, U.K.?
Short 🧵

Current food shortages, if we are to believe industry experts, will last at least two years. We are told not to expect the products we were used to in supermarket shelves./1
What needs to change?

The government has agreed to delay imposing EU import controls.
This is unsustainable.
1. As the current crisis exists despite there not being any meaningful border controls.
2. Sooner or later, other WTO members will demand that they…/2
.. too not have controls on their goods to U.K.

Realistically there are three options for the U.K.-
1. Join the EEA. Low probability as existing members have publicly voiced concerns over ‘the troublemaker U.K.’ joining their club.
2.Join the CU. For this to happen../3
.. U.K. will have to accept becoming a rule taker and ECJ jurisdiction. It would also require a fair dose of trust and goodwill from the EU. This has been rapidly diminishing since Brexit negotiations and NI protocol./4
3.Apply to rejoin the EU. By far the best option to alleviate the financial and food shortages. Brexiters might have to eat crow or find a suitable spin. Leaving this move too late increases the likelihood of more cautious measures being applied to U.K.‘s application./5
How do we make this happen and avoid the collapse of U.K.?

There needs to be united public anger and assertive denouncement of the Tory party and everything it has done and destroyed.

Tell your friends, family, and neighbours. (I have chewed ears out since 2016) /6
Write to your MP, get your friends to write to them. Get a template letter out.

Work towards the common goal of removing Tories from power at any cost.
Whether progressive alliance or tactical voting or putting pressure on Labour to form a coalition. /7
Apply pressure on the Mainstream media to tell the truth - call out on their lies.

Boycott and campaign against papers that spread misinformation /8
Take a lesson from 2020 US elections on social media where some republicans publicly denounced Trump saying “I am republican but I’m not stupid. Vote Biden“ /9
The insular authoritarian and incompetent country that U.K. is becoming has no place in the fast changing global world of alliances and shared common goals, be it the pandemic and climate change issues or the ever present danger of China, Russia and terrorism. End.

Dear Mr Johnson,
I hope you are happy being the prime minister of the U.K.
This is notice that majority of us are not. /1
These are the things you have messed up, and continue to mess up, since 2015 and since you have become PM.
1. The Brexit ‘leave’ campaign was a travesty of lies and foreign interests which no patriot would have agreed to, but you did. /2
2. The lies of the campaign brought victory but by a very narrow margin. It was advisory and didn’t need to be acted upon. But you made it happen.
3. The years following referendum you continued to instigate and inflame the false narratives which brought out the worst../3

What Brexit really did? It’s worst crime in my opinion: It broke the spirit of some wonderful brilliant and decent people.
It shook the core foundation of their existence /1
They are the special part of all societies- kind, thoughtful, educated, contribute to things that enriched U.K. like music, arts, drama, literature, culture, hard work, kindness and honesty. /2
Those who want and work towards a fair society.
Those who pay taxes and wouldn’t paying a bit more to help fellow people.
I am talking about those people. They came from all political parties and all walks of life, all colours and all demographics /3
