Supreme Court will hear plea by West Bengal Government against the Calcutta High Court order handing over CBI investigation into post-poll violence cases of serious nature like murder, rape & other crimes against women. #supremecourtofindia #postpollviolence
Apart from alleging that, "there is a strong likelihood that the CBI will take immediate steps to persecute public officials in the State for political gains”, the @MamataOfficial led government has claimed that most cases touted as #postpollviolence were actually Covid Deaths.
Sr Adv Kapil Sibal appearing for the Respondents submitted that there are several issues along with the procedure followed.
Sibal further answering about the allotment of investigation, there is CBI for Rape and Murder, and for others SIT is there.
Sibal raised the question, Is it a BJP investigating committee?
The bench has asked Sibal to submit a chart and submit a 2 page note along with Mr Jethmalani.
The bench further said that we'll keep it on Friday or Monday after going through it.
