Schumer: "I expect our cmte chairs will provide an overview of all the work that each of their cmtes have done over the last 4 weeks in drafting legislative text, and the entire caucus will have the chance to offer feedback so we can continue to move this process forward."

House Ways & Means Chair Neal (D-MA): "No one likes raising taxes, but thanks to the strength of our economy, we can afford it. But we cannot afford to skimp on the critical investments throughout this proposal."
Neal (D-MA): "We are taking a significant step toward leveling the playing field. Specifically, we propose to increase the top individual income tax rate to 39.6%, increase the top capital gains rate to 25 %, and add a 3% surtax for individuals making over $5 million."

McCarthy today calls on US Supreme Court to end House proxy voting which began on May 27, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic: "Today, we are asking the Supreme Court to uphold the Constitution by overturning Speaker Pelosi’s perpetual proxy voting power grab."
McCarthy: "Although the Constitution allows Congress to write its own rules, those rules cannot violate the Constitution itself, including the requirement to actually assemble in person."
