It used to blow my mind that people who claimed to be nonpartisan, politically tribeless free speech advocates were so easily duped by mediocre shitposters like James Lindsay.
Now I realize "politically tribeless" is a tribe defined by a common enemy, and they defend their own.
Republicans *love* cancel culture. They're just jealous when the left wields their favorite weapon.
If you post publicly-available information — such as an abortion clinic's operating hours — you face the distinct possibility of defending yourself against a civil suit filed by a stranger-snitch who stands to make thousands of dollars off of you. businessinsider.com/texas-abortion…
If Texas' abortion ban is allowed to stand, states could ban other rights upheld by the Supreme Court — such as gay marriage or gun ownership rights — and then delegate enforcement to citizen litigators. businessinsider.com/texas-abortion…
Public sector labor unions — many with close ties to the Democratic establishment — are digging in their heels and refusing to support vaccine mandates for their members.
By opposing vaccine mandates, the unions are sending mixed messages about worker safety — given the fact that nothing can make a workplace safer than a fully-vaccinated staff. businessinsider.com/public-sector-…
If Democrats insist the vaccinated wear masks indoors out of "solidarity" with the unvaccinated, they should show some spine, risk offending a powerful donor constituency — public sector labor unions — and hold them to the same vaccine mandates. businessinsider.com/public-sector-…
The "no lockdowns, no masks, no vax, and definitely no vaccine passport" crowd will still be accommodated:
"New Yorkers will be able to continue to dine outdoors without showing proof of vaccination." nytimes.com/2021/08/03/nyr…
I still oppose govt mandating private businesses to demand proof of vaccination, just as I still oppose govt banning private businesses from demanding proof of vaccination.
There are legitimate concerns about NYC taking the "proof of vaccine" decision out of private businesses' hands — particularly bc of government's tendency toward mission creep and making "emergency" measures permanent.
And please, for the love of god, let's not act shocked that Cynthia McKinney is an anti-semite. It's been plain as day the whole time splcenter.org/fighting-hate/…
Twitter took down Cynthia McKinney's "Zionists did 9/11" tweet
As far as I can tell, this clip went viral after serial plagiarist and TPUSA meme-maker Benny Johnson shared it, so I'm gonna need some more info before I buy that it's not staged.
It's been several hours and I'm still seeing people who should know better credulously sharing this video without asking for even the slightest bit of context or confirmable facts
