FRIDAY THREAD:

Today, I was reflecting back on the 48years of my life, I have had opportunities of experiencing extreme poverty and relative wealth, great health and sometimes sickness, Trusted God most times, doubted the Creator a few times.

Here are some of the valuable lessons I have learned so far in life:

1- We all have a spiritual bit whether we like it or not, know it or not. We all have trust in something. Of course I haven't been perfect but the creator God has come through for me always . Given me wisdom on many occasion, seen His protection, given me favour before human...

beings. Laid a table before my enemies, some perceived!

2 - We are physical beings and throughout life, I have learnt that we need to pay attention to our bodies(health brains can only live in health bodies). 45 minutes of exercises 3 times a week must be the minimum.

3- Valuing networks is a very critical aspects of life because they play a very critical role in life. Without networks, you can't apply your skills and hence affects your survival .

4- Dream big but know dreaming alone isn't enough, wake up daily and apply yourself. Practice patience , be consistent etc . A big dream will support you and many other people whether you like it or not.

5- Honest always pays though can be painful and it takes long to see proper results. You Don't have to struggle to be perfect, it should be your daily desire. You make mistakes, you make amends.

6- Make the most of every opportunity and like I have always said, every opportunity has an expiry date. When you grow older, get wiser but weaker and therefore, when young, take advantage of the age and lay a foundation

7- Fight hard to find your purpose in life and you will be happier daily as you pursue it.

8- it's one thing to invent the best rat trap, but if it's not taken to the market, nobody will beat a path to your door....when you create or build something, make sure to market it. I am sure you all see that on my social media pages

9- Family is important especially the inner one, start by making sure it's sees your value before the outside appreciates your value. Mine isn't perfect but I know they can stand with me always.

10- Be grateful or thankful always to both God and people that do stuff for you. However small or big , let them know you are thankful. Ungrateful people stand in their own paths as a stumbling blocks.

11- I have learnt that money is actually innocent but tends to bring out your character in a special way.

USD 10 tax on tickets

Recently parliament discussed a new levy of USD 10 on each ticket sold out of Uganda to support tourism.

Before this discussion at Parliament, every flight ticket sold in Uganda had a levy of usd 57.7 dollars meant to go to @URAuganda , 10 dollars to security at the airport and USD 40 dollars handling fee...

The charge in Kenya is USD 50, what that means is that on a ticket between Nairobi and Entebbe, USD 107 are taxes. The airlines start calculating their costs from USD 107. Now they will start at USD 117.

But anyways, part 2 is only interesting if you have read part 1 which I tweeted last week and it's for learning purposes for the aspiring entrepreneurs who follow me on here.

I am a strong believer in the power of saving, power of investing savings , power of marketing and hardwork.

Generally speaking, I am the vision guy not necessarily a good implementor of my ideas.

Like I said in part 1, entrepreneurs don't always know the end from the start, but as you implement your faint vision, things start becoming even more clearer through the trials and challenges and sometimes the opportunities.

Like everything in life, you don't need to know the end from the start because you will be learning so much along the way and that's why no one should lie to you about the so many secrets of doing business.

In 2001 April, I started up @SafarisUganda and the biggest motivation I had, I have already written/spoken about it many times before. Ofcourse I had acquired tourism basic skills and the rest I would learn on the job like in everything we do in life.

We spent 9 months in briefcase as a business and that means I had a bag that had our invoice book, receipts and sometimes would host my Nokia phone. I would issue an invoice and a receipt anytime business came by.

Hope y'all are ready for another long thread.

Being a Friday, Let's talk about MARRIAGE.

Last month, I wrote a piece on FB about kylan our son and his travels from Nairobi by public means and how my wife wasn't rightly amused for like 3 days. For 3 days, no peace at home until guy arrived Home.

A guy on my wall made an interesting comment, he said "Even you who has married an American still faces the same problems like me who married from deep in Kabale?" I realised I needed to write something about marriage.

Two weeks ago, I walked down from Signiture Apartments where we were staying in Jinja along Nalufenya Road to send some mobile money to someone.

Since I know myself very well, I don't have a mobile money number and sometimes I make sure I don't even have ATM card on me. Besides, business people don't always have money in cash.

Money is very hard to make, very hard to maintain, even harder is growing it. You must work and think hard while dealing with it.

Just like you ask yourself, how am I going to make money, also ask yourself how am I going to spend it. Make it part of your reasoning.

Today I was thinking about how Nyanza waterways (MV Natalie and sister boat) and Brovad sands( MV brovad) are changing face of lake Victoria.

This country has been blessed with very many water bodies and yes, no other country in Africa has as many rivers and...

lakes like Uganda including source of the Nile and Lake Victoria( World largest troical lake)

I was telling a friend, it's only in a poor country where the rich live in Kololo and the average like me( even me bambi) by lakes like.

I told him from my traveling experience, lakes are gold mines for those who live next to them.

I read a report(i need to find that report and I think it was by world bank) stating that Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania miss earning close to $63bn annually from just being able to have
